Elaine Catherine Stettler

Elaine Catherine Stettler, 87, of Rochester, Minnesota, died Monday, March 18, 2024.

Elaine Catherine Stettler was born on September 23, 1936 to Edward and Hazel (Mahon) Stettler.

Elaine grew up in Rochester and graduated from Lourdes High School. After graduation, she went to work at Osco Drug until beginning a 40-year career at the Mayo Clinic, the last 20 years as supervisor of the St. Marys Medical Records office.

Elaine was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church. After retirement, she enjoyed being one of the “Frogs” ~ “Fruppy Retired Old Girls Society.” She traveled to Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Washington State but annual trips to Northern Minnesota with family were the best. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family; always had cookies in the freezer for them to enjoy.

She did gardening, knitting, reading and jig-saw puzzles. Elaine was the photographer of the family. Who’s going to do it now?

Elaine is survived by a sister Alice Bronner (Marv); brother Mike Stettler (Donna); sisters-in-law Yvonne (Bonnie) Stettler and Mary Stettler; her beloved nieces and nephews: Steve, Scott and Todd Stettler, Lisa Evjen, Michelle Grunewald, Patti Burke, DeAnn Kelzer, Brian and Kevin Bronner, Bridget Schwartz, Keith, Mark, and TJ Stettler; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gerald and David, and niece-in-law Kristina Stettler.

The family of Elaine Stettler are grateful to Mayo Hospice, nurse Kelli, and the Homestead Rehab Facility.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Condolences

The family of Elaine Catherine Stettler has received the following condolences.

I just heard about Elaine's passing......breaks my heart to have not known in time to pay my respects to great lady I had the honor to know and do her hair for 44 yrs ❤️ She loved her family with all her heart and sooo sorry for your loss...

Elaine was an excellent example of the women who made Mayo Clinic run smoothly, efficiently and accurately. Anyone needing help with a records issue in the non- digital paper decades only had to know and ask Elaine. Masterful memory for details and procedures. Everyone in Systems and Procedures learned from her methods. RIP ????????

I am thinking of you all as you celebrate the life of Aunt Elaine. While your hearts are understandably heavy, it is clear to me that Elaine has been very well loved! She has left a personal imprint on each of your hearts:) May you find peace and comfort knowing you have many wonderful memories to cherish and that Jesus has taken her hand —absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Dear Elaine,

You were such a blessing in our families lives. Your love, support and guidance will remain in our hearts and memories forever. We will miss you dearly. Your journey is complete, Rest in peace.

Love you, Todd, Sue and Family

So sorry to hear about Elaine passing. She was my Godmother and always remembered my birthday. I can remember when she would come out to the farm and stay for 3 or 4 days to visit Grandma Nell and help with gardening and canning. She was always so kind and it was fun to have her there. Her faith will certainly help her rest in peace. I am so sorry that we will be unable to attend her service but we are currently in Florida.

Jim and Kathy Mahon

So sorry to hear of Elaine's passing.  May she rest in God's peace and comfort.  May God bless and comfort her family.

Always enjoyed her cards on holidays and birthdays.  I laughed when she said she was responsible for keeping the US Post Office open!  We exchanged cards for years and I loved reading her  messages.  Took me awhile to get used to her hand writing but it was always worth the struggle.  She was a beautiful and loving person inside and out.  She will be missed.

SORRY FOR YOUR FAMILIES LOSS. SHE WAS A GREAT LADY ALWAYS ENJOYED TALKING TO HER .
