She was born at the family farm in Roxbury, Wisconsin, on September 15, 1928, and was the 3rd of five children born to Gilbert and Teresa (Laubmaier) Miller.
Dorothy married Wallace Bornmann on October 8, 1946, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker while they built their family together in New Lisbon, Wisconsin until relocating to Rochester in 1971.
After retiring from Water’s Instruments and IBM in Rochester, Dorothy cared for infants in her home for a number of years. She loved to spend her days cross-stitching, crocheting, and knitting, making special keepsakes for those closest to her and various charity organizations.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Wallace Bornmann, infant daughter, Patricia; parents Gilbert and Teresa (Laubmaier) Miller; brothers Sylvester (Adelle) and George (Sally) Miller; and sister Marjorie (Donald) Hellenbrand.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Vincent (Judith) Miller (Lodi, WI); son, Wallace Bornmann, Jr. (Phoenix, AZ); daughter, Barbara Simon (Owatonna, MN); five grandchildren, Scott Simon (Naomi), Amanda Berg (George), Matthew Simon (Kristi), Angela Jensen (John), Elizabeth Bornmann; a special niece, Kimberly Miller (Poynette, WI); ten great grandchildren and special friends Hack and Joyce Tobin.
Dorothy was an active and devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran church for many years.
Dorothy’s light will continue to shine through those that knew her and loved her. Those of us that knew her best are comforted knowing that she is again with her beloved Wally.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg, Wisconsin at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
