ROCHESTER – Funeral services for Thien Phrachansisourath will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. S.E., Rochester, MN.
Thien Phrachansisourath, age 91, of Rochester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus in Rochester, MN.
Thien was born on May 10th, 1932, the daughter of Ku Haksong and Chantha, in Paksane, Laos. She was the second born out of four children. Her siblings include Ku Joongmong, Keota Thammavongsa, and Sou Olbrich.
Thien married Phimpa Phrachansisourath and together they raised 11 children in Vientiane, Laos. She was an enthusiastic market vendor and all the children held a special job to help. Thien always encouraged a welcoming home and invited nieces and nephews to stay with her when needed.
Thien immigrated with her family to Rochester, MN in 1986. She became an American Citizen in 2001.
Thien enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, meditation, and spending time with her four sons, seven daughters, 18 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was very generous with all that knew her. She helped others to the fullest without expecting anything in return. She was a role model on how to live life as a caring, kind, and patient person.
Thien is survived by her 11 children; four sons, and seven daughters: Oukhane Phrachansisourath (Rochester, MN), Oden Prachan (Fort Worth, TX), Don Prachan (Chicago, IL), Amphone Tieman (Rochester, MN), Amphanh Ounkong (Austin, MN), Ammanivone Poulson (Rochester, MN), Samone St. Denis (Rochester, MN), Momee Phomsaly (Moorsville, NC), Noy Phrachansisourath (Champlin, MN), Alouna Martin (Statesville, NC), and Kino Sisoura (Rochester, MN).
Thien is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.
