I had the pleasure of working with Patti for a few years. It is so difficult to comprehend how hard this is for you and your family Patti. Please reach out if you need anything. Hardship is never meant to be done alone. I offer you my sympathies and hope that you all will heal together.
My first memory of Eddie was when I saw him at Washington Elementary. I was in awe of his towering height as a second grader and approached with caution until I came to know him as the gentle giant he is. All the elementary school memories of safety patrol, conflict managers, your cool Mariners Starter jacket that everyone wanted, “Ed Sled”, Cooke Park, and always being first pick for any team during recess, especially kickball. It was known by all when Eddie was up to kick you backed up, way up, if you even wanted a chance to catch it for an out.
You made friends anywhere you went, I remember you were the courageous one to attend John Adams after the school boundaries changed, which the rest of us adamantly refused to do out of fear. All the hundreds of hilarious moments in BJ’s basement during high school and you being constantly begged by everyone to join the football team. You were always a friendly face at Gander Mountain, the knower of all things outdoors, and you even sold me my first shotgun!
Thank you to the Stanton family for sharing Eddie with all of us, we are truly blessed to have known him. Eddie was as good as they come, a true and genuine human, hilarious, and loved by everyone. I find some comfort in knowing Eddie will always be missed forever by everyone he knew. All the stories and memories we all have will continue to be shared as a nod to honor our dear friend for as long as we live
I know Eddie from the auction
from the first time I met him, i knew he was a kind and gentle soul
he was always kind to me
he loved his wife and his dogs
so sorry for his family and all that loved him
Big Ed Stanton, you were one of the most genuine people I've ever met. Never afraid to say what's on your mind. You always knew where you stood with Eddie. I learned many things from Eddie such as ducks, guns and music. He was a true outdoorsman but an even better friend. My nickname for Ed changed when he met Alicia, it went from Big Ed to Big daddy romance. I remember how happy she made you. Until we meet again Eddie, you will be dearly missed.
Where to start, Eddie we've been friends since I can remember. We grew up playing hockey with each other and against each other. We fished the silver lake dam for years and knew every inch of that river and you knew more than me. I'll never forget the time you told me you can catch northern pike down there and I thought no way. Well no and behold you proved me wrong. I'm gonna miss you big Ed.
Alicia., Patti & Ed & Family
It is with such sorrow I extend my heartfelt condolences. My heart is filled with sadness for the loss of your sweet Eddie. We all, will miss his sense of humor and his kindness. Thank you for all the wonderful memories wonderful man. I will miss you. Love and prayers to all. ♥️
Stanton Family,
Ed & Patti we’re so sorry to hear the news about little Eddie. There are no words to tell you how sorry we are. Please call if there is anything we can do.
Eddie left a lasting imprint on the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and I’m so grateful to have been one of those people.
I remember all the winters at Cooke park playing hockey, roaming around Indian Heights, Ed Sled down the hill at Washington and so many more great memories.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I know this life was just the starting point for a forever of beautiful going forward because someone as amazing as Eddie deserves nothing less.
A kind soul taken much too early. I’ll always remember the days of playing on the cliff, slingshots, bike rides, and endless hours fishing in the streams. You will be missed, dearly, Eddie. May you rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your loved ones.
“Big Ed” was a friend. That’s ALL he was.
A friend is someone who will tell you the truth, even if it hurts.
A friend is someone who can make you gut laugh. Whether it’s an old, replayed story, or just a picture of his dog’s… well you’ve seen them.
A friend is someone who is loyal to a fault. Someone who will stick up for you even when you’re wrong… through thick and thin.
A friend is someone who pulls you in close, and doesn’t let go. They keep in touch no matter the amount of time or distance between you.
Eddie was OUR friend.
My deepest condolences to all family. Patty, you gave him his loyalty and strength. Alicia, the moment you two met, Eddie became a better man. I will never forget the look on his face in Winona after meeting you. He was forever changed.
We will never forget our big guy—love you, Ed.

This world lost a truly great person. I had read others say, "Ed was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back", and that is completely right. He was the first person to stick up for others, the first person to step up for you when you needed help....with anything, no complaints. A gentle giant who would make us laugh all the time. We're so blessed to have known Ed, and all of the great memories he gave us, growing up in Rochester, especially all the time spent fishing together, and always showing me the ropes! We will keep his memories with us forever, and continue to talk about all the great memories we had. We will always look back fondly on the time we spent together. We will miss you very much, Ed.
Fly high Eddie. Truly one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Gonna miss sending you a text for the bin swap. Alicia always said, don't forget to message your friend Eddie lol. You always had a smile on your face no matter what.
Alicia...I love you girl and wish you comfort and peace during all this and to the rest of his family and friends.
Love,
Kimmy
