My condolences and love to the family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Randy. He was such a special person to me. The thing I remember most of Randy was his smile. Randy was one of the nicest person I have ever known. I remember when I did not see him for years he would still remember my voice and say hi Elizabeth how are you. Love to all of you.

My condolences and love to the family. Randy was such an inspiration to me through my life. Every time I saw him I would spend time talking with him and he was always so excited about the things he was working on or the people he spent time with. I am so happy to have known him and will miss seeing him at family events whenever I make it back to Minnesota. Godspeed Randy, say hello to my mom and dad up in Heaven.
Randy was one of my first students when I came to Rochester in 1968. For the first couple of years after he came back from the Faribault School for the Blind, I taught him in his home where his mother, Marie, became like a second mother to me. We usually worked at the dining room table. Randy always amazed me with the way he could remember the ages and birth dates of everyone he knew! I knew he helped his sister, Mary Lynn, dry dishes after their meals.
When Hillside School opened, he went there by school bus and we worked together at the school. Everyone, teachers and students, liked and enjoyed Randy as he was always friendly, positive and had such an infectious laugh. When I started teaching him to use a cane, he amazed me again by being able to hold it properly and slide it across a grate with the tip on the floor without getting the tip caught in the grate!
I loved teaching and working with Randy and and enjoyed our occasional visits at his Group Homes after he graduated. He will be missed!
