Jeanne Beabout, 71, died peacefully in her home on November 27, 2010.
Claire Jeanne Gillen was born in Faribault, Minnesota on November 1, 1939, to John and Florence (Durand) Gillen. She grew up in Medford, Minnesota before moving to San Francisco and then back to Minnesota. When she moved to Rochester, Minnesota, she worked as a medical secretary at the Mayo Clinic until her marriage to Dr. John (Jack) Beabout in 1967.
Jeanne was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester for many years, before recently joining Resurrection Catholic Church. She was active in community organizations, including the St. John’s Altar Society, Alice Mayo Society, Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary, and Meals on Wheels. She also served on the Lourdes High School auction and St. John Church decorating committees.
Jeanne survived polio as a child, and was a 36-year survivor of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Gillen. She is survived by her husband Jack, son James (wife Sofia), grandson Sebastian, father John Gillen, sister Janet McLeod (husband Richard), and brother Michael Gillen.
Jeanne and her family are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at the Mayo Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital that took care of her over the years.
