David Paul Collett

David Paul Collett, 84 of Rochester passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus.

David was born on April 5, 1938 in Rochester to Dwight and Harriet “Esther” (Ingram) Collett. He attended school in Rochester and was drafted into the US Army. He served two years, and upon returning home to Rochester he married Sandra “Sandy” Kay Nelson on May 16, 1964. Together, they raised three boys. Dave worked as an auto mechanic at various places, before going to work for Adamson Motors from 1977 until 2010.

Dave loved to travel and vacation with his family. His favorite destination was Colorado to see the mountains. He enjoyed fishing and going to old car shows. He was a loving father who will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his three sons Todd and Sean of Rochester, and Jamie (Adam) of Dover, MN. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Gizmo.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandy (2022), siblings Ronald “Ronnie”, James “Jim”, Martha, and Dwight Jr.

The funeral service for Dave will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11:00AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Helberg officiating. Condolences

The family of David Paul Collett has received the following condolences.

Dave and I worked next to each other for many many years!  Dave had a large stereo on his work bench and he played old country music from his tape collections. Every Friday morning about 820 he would crank up the stereo and play Johnny Cash, "Burning Ring of Fire"! That got the whole shop in the weekend mood! Rest in Peace Dave! Until we meet again.....
