Jerry W. Iverson

Jerry Wayne Iverson, 79, died January 27, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Albert Lea on May 2, 1946 to Evelyn (Akemann) and Everett Iverson. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1965. Jerry joined the navy in 1967 and served in Vietnam for 1 year and 11 months which affected much of his life.

From a young age Jerry was horse crazy and did whatever he could to be around them. He also loved his dog a Doberman Pinscher and his bird, Dowser, an African Grey with a colorful vocabulary.

Jerry and his partner Nancy were fortunate to meet later in life. They had much in common and enjoyed riding motorcycle together and playing bingo at the American Legion Post 56 where Jerry was a member. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cribbage, and bingo. He had tattoos on both arms that he designed himself. Jerry worked at Streeters, Wilsons, and the treatment center.

Thank you to his family, his great neighbors, Lisa White who was his home health nurse, Dr. Sue Jenkins and the DAV for making his life better.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Michael Broitzman.

He is survived by Nancy; brothers, Gary Iverson (Linda), Everett Iverson (Rhonda); sisters, Karen Broitzman, Sandra Oudekerk (Roelf), Barbara Callahan, many nieces, nephews, their children and many cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, Monday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. with lunch to follow the VA Honor Guard.
