Joseph “Joe” O. Nordby

Joseph Nordby, 94, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at his home.

Joe was born on August 17, 1931, son of Clarence and Marie Nordby. He graduated from Spring Valley High School. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

In 1961 Joe married Wanda Lee Scrabeck. He retired from IBM as an Advisory Engineer after 30 years, then came back and worked 24 more years.

Joseph was blessed with a long and happy life, centered around family and a deep appreciation for the world around him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was known for his warm spirit, quick wit, and the many stories and jokes he generously shared with all who knew him. His life was enriched by his travels across the world, creating memories and experiences that he loved to recount with joy.

Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda; his son Steven; grandchildren Nicole, Kaylee, and Danielle; and great-grandchildren Norah and Grayson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
