Lavon Doris Sorenson (née Lee)

Lavon Doris Sorenson, 90, formerly of Rochester, Minnesota, died November 29, 2025, at Auburn Courts in Chaska, Minnesota.

Lavon was born December 29, 1934, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Helmer and Martha Lee. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1953 and later attended Bethany College. On December 13, 1953, she married Duane Sorenson. The couple lived in Albert Lea until 1967 when they moved to Rochester. Lavon and Duane were married for 57 years at the time of his death in 2011.

Lavon (“Toots”) loved fishing with her family at the cabin in northern Minnesota. Her red hair and vivacious personality stood out in her overwhelming love of life, family, and friends.

She is survived by her children, Mark Sorenson (Lucy Poole) of West St. Paul; Trudy Jung (Tom) of Chaska; and Joni Maxfield (Karl) of Coon Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Lee of Mankato, and Roger Lee (Connie) of Northwood, Iowa, sister-in-law Suzy Lee of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four siblings, Gloria Keithley, Lloyd Lee, Jerry Lee, and Denny Lee; niece Suzie Keithley; and nephews Paul Lee and Dennis Lee.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 4, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service, at the same location. The burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester following the funeral service.
