David F. Greden
David Francis Greden, 88, of Rochester, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after a “big ol’ hangover”.
Born January 11, 1937 in Rochester to Francis and Betty (Lehnertz) Greden, he attended school in Rollingstone, MN and graduated from Winona State University in 1958. Dave then served in the Air Force Reserves prior to marrying Kathryn Sulla on September 13, 1958 at St. Paul’s Church in Minnesota City, MN. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this fall.
Dave was employed in numerous technical and managerial positions prior to his retirement from IBM in 1992. He was an active member of St. Pius Church, the Minnesota City Boat Club, and coached youth baseball, basketball, football and hockey for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially those events where his kids and grandchildren took part. Reading, golf, the 50 years they spent boating the Mississippi, traveling the world, and ‘putzing’ in his workshop were some of his greatest joys. A gifted craftsman, he designed and built beautiful, hand-crafted furniture that will remain part of his family for generations. Dave took great pride in restoring his daughter’s homes -a true labor of love and one of his greatest pastimes. Dave also devoted himself to tracing family roots, researching and documenting the genealogy of more than 30,000 individuals with Luxembourgish heritage -creating a legacy that will endure for generations.
Survivors include his wife Kathy; one son Larry (Anita) Greden; and two daughters, Lori Greden, and Mary (Eric) Klepper of Rochester; four beautiful grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Kramer, Lauren (Sam) Douglas, Sam Lessard and Grace (Joseph) Dixon; a sister Carol Ryan; and a brother Dr. John (Renee) Greden; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Catherine, Cameron, and Charotte; along with a bunch of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Jodi.
The Memorial Service for David will be held at 11:00AM, October 14, 2025 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service at the chapel. A reception will follow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester, MN.
Memorials are preferred to the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi of Rochester.

Kathy and Family
I was very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Wonderful person, always had a smile, never seemed to have a bad day. I was fortunate to work with Dave on 2 transformational projects that positioned IBM as a worldwide leader in providing electronic payments to employees and suppliers. He did great work. Like the rest of us, the golf game could use some work.
Sincerely, Paul Iverson
Kathy and family, so sorry for Dave's passing. Had many great years of playing golf with him and other "old farts" at Northern Hills. He was a great handicapper. Will really miss his many funny emails he sent to me here in Florida . Great guy and will be missed. R.I.P. Dave.
Kathy, I am so sorry to hear of David's death. He was a great guy. I will miss his amusing e-mails. My sympathy to all your family. Sincerely, Jean Kertzman.
We were so sorry to hear of Davids passing. Our memories include time spent with my parents Len and Bernelda Greden and
especially the reunion when Rogers came from Luxembourg. We so enjoyed Davids email postings with the "senior" humor.
We could certainly relate! I also appreciated very much his help with the Greden family history. I even remember Francis and
recently learned that my Dad had worked for Francis at his construction company as a young man before marrying my Mom
and starting the dairy. Please know that David was loved and will be dearly missed. May your memories bring you comfort and
God's promises bring you peace.
God Bless your Family

Heaven has gained a very special soul who brings a sense of humor and a positive influence. Dave was always a great friend who knew how to give and receive good-natured ribbing. Always with a smile. My sincere condolences to Dave's family and friends. We will all miss him. Unfortunately, Mary and I are vacationing in Florida so we will not be able to pay our respects in person at the services. Know that we loved Dave dearly.
My sincere sympathy and condolences for your loss.
I had the opportunity to learn from and work with Dave for 25 years. He was a highly valued IBMer and incredibly knowledgeable and reliable.
Sincerely, Dick Lueck
