Robert “Rob” Amundson
Robert “Rob” Amundson, 39, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2025.
Rob was born on February 22, 1986, to Gregory and Catherine (Jacobson) Amundson. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 2004. After graduation, he headed west to Arizona, where he spent a decade working on golf courses and living out his dream of playing the game he loved as often as he could. One of his lifelong goals was to one day play at Pebble Beach.
Rob eventually returned to Minnesota, where he built his life around family, hard work, and quiet strength. He was a hands-on, do-anything kind of person who always made time for those around him. Rob worked at Hiller’s Flooring America, not only as the General Manager but worked wherever he was needed, whether in the store or on the job site. On September 22, 2018, Rob was united in marriage to Bethany Quast. Whether it was cheering loudly at his kids’ hockey games, helping with a project, or simply showing up when it mattered—Rob gave of himself fully. Rob’s children were his entire world, and his youngest son, Henry always wanted to be wherever his dad was,
Those who knew Rob will remember his big, infectious smile, his kind and patient spirit, and the way he made people feel truly seen. He lit up every room he walked into and lived with a fearlessness and heart that left a mark on everyone who crossed his path. He loved deeply and selflessly, especially when it came to his wife and children.
Rob found joy in the simple things: a good day in the woods during deer season, a round of golf under the sun, fishing trips up North with his family and time spent with family and friends. He had an easygoing nature, a big heart, and generosity that touched many lives. Even in death, Rob generously gave to others through organ donation.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bethany; his three children, Wyatt, Madi, and Henry; his parents, Greg and Cathy Amundson; his brother, Eric (Kelly) Amundson; nephew, Jack, and niece, Remi. He is also survived by his in-laws, Chris and Pam Quast, and many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Rob’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave NW, Rochester. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.

We want to express our deepest condolences to all the Amundson families who are going through this difficult time. We pray that you all may find strength and comfort in knowing Robbie is now playing on the finest golf course of them all. The kingdom of heaven. Though he has completed his final round in this world you can rest assured that he is already chasing that golf ball all over as he entered heavens gate. May the Lord comfort you all.

Sending condolences to the Amundson family and friends. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
Our heartfelt condolences to you all as you navigate this journey you are on. Rob will forever be a part of so many people and while he’s not here, he will continue to lead by the life and legacy he left behind.
Rob was a special person and a great friend. So many hockey games and rounds of golf together. We were with him when he danced on the bar of the cabin up north and tied the course record at The Duke. Lots of memories and all of them good. Rob always found a way to get us on courses in AZ we had no business being on. All we had to do was say he sent us and the red carpet rolled out. His smile lit up the room. His kindness to others was unmatched. He will be missed. Love to Cathy, Oz, Eric and family, Bethany and the kids. God bless you all.
