A graduate of Mayo High School, Class of 1981, Laurie embarked on a fulfilling career at the Mayo Clinic, where she worked as a clerical float for many years before retiring in 2014. Laurie made lasting friendships and enjoyed going out to lunch with former colleagues.
In 1983, Laurie married her high school sweetheart, Randy Supalla, and together they built a loving family. Laurie was a doting mother to her son, Travis, and a caring daughter to her father, Larry Aarhus. Her compassion extended beyond her family to all creatures, having shared her home with many dogs and a colorful array of wildlife throughout her life, including raccoons, fox, and skunks.

Travis and family,
I am sorry for your significant loss. She was too young and is gone too soon. Travis - Your mother (sister/daughter/friend) had a beautiful smile and from her photo, it looks like she smiled often. I hope you find some comfort in being surrounded by those who loved her best over the next few days as you gather in her honor.

I never got the pleasure of meeting Laurie in person, but by the way Randy talked about her, I knew she was an awesome lady. I worked with Randy at mayo for almost 4 years. In that time, it was so very evident that Laurie was so loved and cherish. Randy talked about her as his #1, his high school sweetheart! I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I wish her last years of life could have been without sickness. Randy, I hope the both of you were able to enjoy retirement together as much as possible.
Will be thinking of you Randy and Travis, and sending prayers to you both. So very sorry for your loss.
Randy and Travis so sorry to hear about Laurie. I always enjoyed when we ran into each other at HyVee, and did a little catching up. My deepest sympathy to you both. I am sure she will be watching over you two just like she always did.

Dear Randy, Travis, Renee,
I was so heartbroken to hear of Laurie’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences.
I will treasure and hold tightly my childhood memories. She was the first to befriend me when my family moved into the neighborhood.
We ended up walking to elementary school almost every day.. sharing giggles and secrets. Then bus rides thru high school til cars, jobs and boys.
You never forget the one who made you feel less alone in the world. I remember feeling so lucky to have Laurie as my friend… she was always so sweet! so kind! Her light will always shine in my heart!
Peace,
Annie (Ann Caflisch) Young
Dear Laurie,
I’m married to a guy who lifts weights regularly but you are the strongest person I know. You carried a heavy load with complications of diabetes but you did it with such grace and strength. Always gracious and grateful. You found joy in simple things every day and your dry sense of humor often surprised me. I love ya Sista and will miss you immensely.
