David A. Conrad

David Allan Conrad was born in Winona Minnesota to Waldemar and Dorothy (Maas) Conrad on November 26, 1952.  He entered eternal rest on November 20th two weeks after suffering a respiratory arrest.

Dave attended Winona State College where he met Pat (Cashman) Conrad.  They married in October 1976 after graduating.  Dave and Pat moved to Rochester in 1978 for “one or two years” and never left.

As a young man, Dave worked at Piggly Wiggly and Bloedow’s Bakery.  He was a wine and liquor salesman for many years before returning to school and earning a Doctorate of Education from St Marys University.  He was an adjunct professor for many area colleges and ended his career in 2021 as a tenured professor at Augsburg University.

Dave will be deeply missed by his wife Pat, daughter Karey (Cori) Cashman, sons Joseph and Andrew (Katlin) Conrad, granddaughters Rayleigh and Mila, and sisters Dianne Nehring and Judith (Jock) Fansler.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers in law David Gernes and Daryl Nehring

Dave enjoyed travel, his vinyl record collection, WWII history, and delivering Meals on Wheels.  He was planning to pursue his passion for playing drums by joining a local band.

A Catholic Mass will be offered at 11am on Saturday November 23, 2024, at St Pius X Catholic Church.  Reviewal one hour prior to the service

In lieu of flowers family requests memorials to Augsburg University or Catholic Charities Rochester Warming Center.

Condolences

The family of David A. Conrad has received the following condolences.

Oh, Pat, I am so sorry for your loss! Hugs, Rita

To the Conrad family,

I am very sorry for your loss.  This is such a shock but I’m sure Jesus welcomed Dave through the gates of heaven.  He passed the test here on earth.  I worked for Dave as an Adjunct Instructor at the Augburg MBA night program while I worked at Mayo.  He was such a kind man, very helpful ALWAYS.  I enjoyed our discussion about teaching.  Dave was so knowledgeable.  I spoke with him on the phone several times over the last five years and saw him with his wife at Saint Pius while attending Mass there.  I know you will miss him as will I.  We will pray for Dave and for all of you.

Steve and Sherilyn Bahnemann

Pat, Karey, Joe, and Andrew,

The Silker family is so very sorry to learn of David’s passing.  Through the years, we enjoyed moments together at St Pius, Lourdes, Pax Christi and the many social events that we had fun shared with this ”FINE MAN”.   He was such a great help at the Sunday Lunch programs and he had a way of welcoming all into his friendship.  Whomever he did not have the pleasure meeting personally, he touched with his Post Bulletin articles. Simply said; David leaves behind the legacy of a great family and a whole bunch of friends that will miss him dearly.

God Bless Mr Conrad!
