Anastasia “Ann” M. Ryan

It is with great sadness that the family of Anastasia (Ann) Ryan announces her passing on August 8, 2024.

Ann was born on March 7, 1934, to John and Kathryn (Fahey) Quinn. On February 9, 1957, she married Robert (Bob) Ryan. Their wedding was a double ceremony with Don and Peg Grobe officiated by Bishop Ray Lucker at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Rochester.

Ann graduated from Good Counsel Academy High School in 1952. She then attended Saint Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls, graduating in August 1955 with a degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse at Olmsted Community Hospital and then at Mayo Clinic for 21 years in the Health Science Research Department.

Ann enjoyed volunteering at Saint Pius church, with the Girl Scouts, and the Rochester Civic Theatre. She enjoyed traveling, camping, being an avid reader, and spending time with friends and loved ones in the Grobe family. She dearly loved her time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Renee (Doug) Jossart, Alexandria, MN; John Ryan (Tamara), Necedah, WI; Teresa Ryan, Phoenix, AZ; Paulette Ryan, Rochester, MN; Mary Witt (Rick), Rochester, MN. Ann and Bob were blessed with nine grandchildren Daniel, B.J., Nicole, Matthew, Tim, Shannon, Adam, Maisie, and Kieran; thirteen great-grandchildren Logan, Benjamin, Ian, Aaron, Jacob, Avery, Clay, Croix, triplets Finley, Addie and Owen, Stella, and Layla.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Bob; her parents, brother Frank Quinn, and sister-in-law Carol Quinn. She is survived by brothers John Quinn, St. Paul, MN; Bob (Betty) Quinn, St. Paul, MN; and her sister Kathy Quinn, St. Petersburg, FL.

She will be dearly missed by her friends at The Waters on Assisted Senior Living. The family would like to thank the staff for their personalized dedicated care and compassion, particularly during her last days.

Ann requested memorials to School Sisters of Notre Dame, 1705 Windermere Way, Shakopee, MN 55379. Attention: Sister Anita.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Avenue NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour before Mass to gather and share beautiful memories. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ann. I was a concierge at The Waters and Ann always came down in the mornings for coffee and would always have a smile on her face.  She would always stop by my desk and we always talk. If I worked in the evenings, I was always lucky to have her come and see me then as well.

I know she is going to be missed by many residents and staff at The Waters.

To the family, I am sending out my thoughts and prayers.

I called my beautiful, loving sister Mz Switzerland forever! She had an opinion, she just chose to be wise and not share it! Couldn't begin to count the times she shook her head at me!

I was so blessed that God gave her to me. She had unconditional love, allowing me to be part of her family. Priceless.

Dad had a bad heart, with her first pay check as a nurse, she bought him a television. That was sis, always thoughtful.

Dad named her Anastasia. Little Irish lass with a big Russian name. When asked as a wee lass what her name was, she couldn't say it but she could spell it!. LoL Of course everyone fell in love with her and that love prevailed through 90 years.

No one can fill the void of my favorite sister. ❤️

Sending love and prayers to her family and friends. She was so loved my our family, she was one of my moms favorite people. I was so sad to hear about her passing, she was so kind and loving to everyone she will be missed by all Love and hugs to all the Ryan family , with love Bill Ryan SR.
