Glyndon “Glen” Vertner Nichols

Glyndon “Glen” Nichols, age 93, of Rochester, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born March 13, 1928, in Faribault, MN, the son of Vertner and Sylvia (Degan) Nichols.He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Vail in Faribault November 18, 1950, and to this union one daughter was born. Elizabeth preceded him in death. Glen married Jeanette (Lica) Lewis in Rochester on March 14, 1996. Glen was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. He was a lifelong fisherman and pheasant and goose hunter, taking trips to Alaska and Canada. He honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II, serving most of his time in Japan. He enjoyed traveling, including a trip to Europe, as well as bus trips with Jeanette and the Widows Group. He was also a volunteer, serving as treasurer for the Widowed Persons Service. Glen enjoyed walking at the mall and going out to breakfast with friends.

Glen is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Rochester; daughter, Deb (Ron) Pederson of Mantorville, MN; grandchildren: Nathan Pederson of Mantorville, Brian Pederson of Rochester, Joanna Pederson of Robinsdale, MN, and Tessa (Jon) Buck of Mantorville; Jeanette’s children: Liana (Shawn) Gardner of Rochester, Teresa (Mark) Fosse of Rochester, Steven (Jean) Lewis of Rochester, Kerry (Scott) Peterson of Marana, AZ, Kim Armstrong of Rochester, Jeffrey (Susan) Lewis of Rochester, and Michael (Tammy) Lewis of Rochester; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; and 3 brothers:Ray, Kenneth, and Jim.

A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 11:00AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project.
