James “Jim” Sobek

James “Jim” Sobek, 62, of Rochester, MN passed peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Edenbrook of Rochester after a short battle with cancer.

Jim was born on July 28, 1959 in Rochester to Marvin and Patricia (James) Sobek. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1977. He attended two years of Votec School for automotive repair. Jim was married, then divorced, and worked as a master printer at Schmidt Printing for 27 years.

He loved spending his time around automotives, attending multiple car shows. He had a love for firearms and grew up in the Junior Rifle Club. He also loved spending time with his grandson.

Jim is survived by his mother, Patricia; son, Evan Sobek of Rochester; daughter, Beth (Todd) Garcia of Colville, WA; and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin; brother, Jary; and sister, Dawn.

The memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are preferred to the family of Jim.
