Edward J. Maloney

The memorial mass for Edward J. Maloney will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, with Rev, Joseph Keefe officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday September 8th at Macken Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:00 PM.  Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at church on Thursday.

Mr. Maloney, 88 of Rochester, died Monday September 6, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Edward was born July 17, 1922 in New York City to Martin and Margaret (McDonnell) Maloney. He married Genevieve Kenna in October of 1955 and she died April of 1976. He later married Peggy LaVoie Larson in December 1977. Mr. Maloney worked for the NYC subway system from1949-1951. He then started with IBM in Queens as a customer engineer from 1951-1958. He then transferred to Poughkeepsie, NY and worked in product testing from 1958 -1964. Then he moved to Rochester, Minnesota to work with IBM doing product testing and laboratory operations from 1964-1986.He retired from IBM, in 1986.

Edward is survived by his wife; 3 sons, Edward (JoAnn) Maloney of Plymouth, Robert Maloney of Watertown, SD, Ken (Jane) Maloney of Burnsville; 1 daughter, Eileen (Jeff) Oliver of Rochester; 3 step-sons, Steven (Kim) Larson of Austin, TX, Kenneth (Linda) Larson of Oronoco, Jim (Kelly) Larson of Brainerd; 1 step-daughter, Theresa (Joe) Wagoner of Owatonna; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

Edward was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of Golden K Kiwanis.  He enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling.
