Agnes Irene Dunagan

Agnes Irene Dunagan age 98, a longtime Rochester resident passed away August 31, 2010 at Pine Haven Nursing Home where she has lived the past four years.

She was born June 11, 1912 in Dodge County, Minnesota to Frank & Inez (Kennedy) Quick.  She was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy in Faribault.  Irene married John Austin Dunagan on August 29, 1935 and he preceded her in death January 1, 1992. She was a homemaker, and a longtime member of St. Pius Catholic Church.  She and her late husband were very active and involved in the Knights of Columbus for many years.   Mr. Dunagan served as the Olmsted County Assessor for many years.  They enjoyed weekends at their cabin in Wabasha with family and friends for many years.

She is survived by a daughter: Delores Archer (John) of Pine Island, MN and a son: John A. “Jack” Dunagan (Dixie) of Mason City, IA.  10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson also survive.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters, 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter.

Friends may call Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  at Macken Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7:15 p.m..  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at St. Pius Catholic Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the mass at church.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
