Mr. Daly, age 72, life-long resident of Rochester, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Seasons Hospice where he had resided for one week.

He was born James Edward Daly, December 22, 1937 in Rochester to Joseph and Helen (Gallivan) Daly, and grew up here and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1956.   He attended University of St. Thomas in St. Paul for two years and then began work in the family liquor business here in Rochester with his father and brother. Jim married Judith I. Harnack August 22, 1959 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Rochester. Judy passed away June 8, 2006.

He later worked as a salesman for liquor distributing company Griggs-Cooper. He retired in 2004.

Jim was a devoted backer of Lourdes High School, supporter of both its academic and athletic programs. He was an ardent fan of Notre Dame sports, and closely followed their athletic teams.

He is survived by one daughter and five sons:  Molly Jo (Todd) Cruz, Portland, OR;  Terry P. Daly, Seattle, WA;  Thomas J. Daly, Rogers, MN;  Timothy M. Daly, Brooklyn Center, MN;  James H. (Tracie) Daly, Rochester, MN and Kelley S. Daly of Minneapolis. Seven grandchildren survive. In addition, he is survived by one sister and one brother:  Helen Frear and Joseph R. (Lugene “Tris”) Daly, both of Rochester.

Memorials are suggested to Lourdes High School, American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice.
