Leon Proper
Leon Proper, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and ladies’ man passed away in his home on Monday, February 22, 2021 from heart complications.
Leon was a master craftsman, took fashion cues from no one, told better stories than most, and was rarely at his first rodeo or on his first rabbit hunt. He played hard, adventured wildly, and loved fiercely, especially his kids, Nate, Liz, and Leah. He taught his children to love games, to question norms, and to seek adventure Leon held friendships for decades, always stuck by his Minnesota sports teams, and struggled to turn down anyone in need. His life-long loves were for cards, the outdoors, and for people. Good conversation fulfilled him, especially in boats, from a hunter’s perch, or while holding a winning card hand. The loved ones he leaves behind include his children; grandsons, Jaxon, Nickolys, and Caleb; and his siblings, Dee, Dean, Sue, Jerry, and Donna. Celebrate Leon’s life this Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., by joining his children for an informal Zoom filled with stories, his favorite sayings, laughter, and photographs. Reach out to Leah via text (preferred) or call 507-405-0904 for the Zoom link. Leon wouldn’t have had any idea what Zoom is and since he’s one of those people who one celebration couldn’t cut it, join family and friends again at an outdoor potluck this summer (TBD). His children will be in touch about the gathering. In lieu of condolences and donations can be sent to the family or to Macken Funeral Home. Flowers can be sent to the family. His children are also accepting donations in Leon’s name to Doc’s Recovery House, a local charity for sober living. |

I was sorry to hear of Leon’s passing. I have heard many fun stories of my dad’s adventures with him. He seemed like a fun person and a great cousin to my dad!
Sincerely,

So very sorry to hear about Leon’s passing. I went to school with Leon and Dean and we played baseball together at Mayo high school. He was always a fun character. Leon’s brother Jerry is also my brother in law and he is always talking about Leon’s hunting trips. Good stories. Hog bless
