Bette Schoenfelder was born on a farm near Simpson, MN on March 26, 1928 to William and Mary (Fogarty) Schoenfelder.

At the age of two she moved with her family to a farm near Rochester. Bette attended Rural School for eight years and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1946. She then went on to work at Mayo Clinic in the Ear, Nose, and Throat Department.

She returned to work at Rochester Methodist Hospital in 1968 for 23 years until her retirement. Following retirement, she worked part time at the Stewartville Schools for 15 years.

Bette and Wesley moved from the farm to Stewartville in November 2003 where they remained until his passing on June 23, 2007. Together they enjoyed dancing and traveling. Bette also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, working with her flowers, and watching the birds. She was a lifelong member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Simpson and an honorary member of the CCW.

Bette is survived by five daughters, Jo Ann (Phil) Olson of New York Mills, MN, Kathy Brommer of San Diego, CA, Rose Mary (Mike) Dobson of Perham, MN, Jean Koch of Rochester, MN, Patricia (Victor) King of Marshall, TX; three sons, William (Michelle) Baker of Millville, MN, Charles Baker and Russell Baker, both of Rochester, MN; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marian Halloran of Chatfield, MN and Patricia Leonard of Tucson, AZ.

Condolences

The family of Bette Baker has received the following condolences.

To the family of Bette Baker:  I wanted to express my sympathy to you and those close to her.  I didn't know Bette very well; however, I worked with her at Methodist Hospital many years ago....some 38 years.  I was a supervisor in the Patient Food service tray line where we prepped and sent the trays up to the patients. She worked on the food lines, the day shift.  That was quite a crew, they had their job down to a "T", but many were not so kind to a supervisor, like me, who was only 24 years old.  (Maybe it was the whole management vs union discord.) Bette was kind, and never gave me any problem.  I did my best and really appreciated the workers who showed pride in their work, and that was Bette. I see she was the same age as my Mom.  I am glad that she lived a long full life.  I know you will miss her and hope you can have some type of memorial for her that is helpful for your family in these "different" times.  God Bless.

Dear Aunt Bette, Its been my honor and pleasure to walj beside you as a niece and friend....especially these last few years and days. All your family knows you live each of them unconditionally. My Live and Prayers, Niece Marilyn

Her Journey Just Begun-

Don't think of her as gone away,

Her journey's just begun

Life holds so many facets

this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.

And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched...for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.

I hope Aunt Bette is dancing her socks off (do angels wear socks?) and resting in God's arms between sets.  XXOO, Mary

Our sympathy to all of Bette's Children & Families. Your Mom was always such a welcoming lady. Always happy to see you. May she rest in Peace. Love & Prayers ???☦️ Mary Fran GRIFFIN Gillich.
