Barbara J. Baker

Barbara “Barb” Janette Baker lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester.

Barbara was born July 16, 1940 in Moorhead, MN to Neils C. and Mary L. (Burkett) Gade. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1958. On July 23, 1960, Barb married her high school sweetheart, Harley F. Baker. The couple lived in Moorhead, Badger, Alexandria and Preston, MN before settling in Rochester in 1978.

Barb is survived by her husband; daughter Sue (Pete) Bromelkamp; son Mike (Deb) Baker; grandchildren Jessi (Dan) Flaaen, Nikki (AJ) Yusten, Shawn Bromelkamp, Kyle (Sarah) Baker, Alyssa Baker, Tim (Ashley) Baker, and Justin (Bridget) Sanborn; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters Jan (Joe) Swenson and Jeanne (Clint) Hall.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Sidney Gade; and son Alan Baker.

A family funeral service will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic’s Alzheimer’s Research Center, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, or  Channel One Regional Food Bank.

I’m so sorry for your loss, I worked with Barb at St. John’s and she was an amazing lady always in my heart ❤️ God bless her and you, she is at peace. 

My high school classmate, as is Harley.  May you, Harley, and all of the family be comforted in your loss.

Went to high school with Barb. One of my best friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.   

Harley and family,  Our deepest sympathy at the loss of Barb. We knew Barb from St. Johns in Rochester and I was grateful to be in the same women's group with her. She was always a willing worker and generous soul. I remember her joyful spirit. She will no doubt be missed by many friends and family. I was so glad to have known her! May she rest in peace.
