Susan M. Hruska
Susan Maree Hruska passed away peacefully while asleep in her Rochester home on July 11th, 2010. In September of 2006, Sue was diagnosed with brain cancer. During the almost four years of battling her cancer she enjoyed every day and lived her life to the fullest. She continued to be an inspiration to all that knew her. Throughout her entire life, Sue had a deep passion for living, truly enjoyed being around people, helping others, and spreading the message of God’s love. She was also a big sports fan and especially loved the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Sue was born to Lowell and Delores Indrelie on June 30th, 1958 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in June of 1976, and then moved to Rochester to attend Vocational College. In October of 1978, she started her career at the Mayo Clinic, where she worked for thirty years. Sue married her best friend, Ed Hruska in March of 1981.
She served as a mentor for several teens over the years and joined a Mayo
Clinic team serving in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Sue always enjoyed being involved in numerous community activities and always valued her wonderful family, neighbors, co-workers and friends.
Sue is survived by her husband, Ed; her daughter Holly Owens (Steve) of
Olathe, Kansas; son Drew Hruska (Keeley) of Rochester; her mother Delores
Indrelie of Albert Lea; two sisters, Nancy Christopherson (Todd) of
Burnsville and Barb Anderson (Steve) of Sartell; one brother, Mark Indrelie
(Jessie) of Albert Lea; her mother-law, Arlene Hruska of Rochester; her
father-in-law, Paul Hruska (Lois) of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Lauren
Hruska (Pete Libra) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 4 nieces: Rachel Phelan,
Ashley Anderson, Kylie Indrelie, Lauren Christopherson; 7 nephews: Ryan
Christopherson, Derek Anderson, Isaiah Libra, Marcus Libra, Spencer
Indrelie, Cole Indrelie, and Kadin Indrelie. She was preceded in death by
her father, Lowell Indrelie, and grandparents.
The Memorial Service for Sue will be 11:00am Wednesday, July
14th, at the Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave SE with the Rev.
Shirley Heeg representing Church Of The Savior. Visitation will be held from
4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 13th at Macken Funeral Home and also
10:00am to 11:00am, prior to the memorial service.
Memorials may be directed to the family in order to be presented to
Brains Together for a Cure – an organization Sue was involved in, focusing on continuing brain cancer research.
