Kay Marie Ewen

Kay Marie Ewen, 82, of Rochester, passed away on July 24, 2019.

Kay was born on August 17, 1936 to Floyd and Myrtle (Brakke) Wussow. On October 15, 1955 she married Jerome Ewen. Together, they raised three children, Mike, Jenny and Doug. Kay was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Rochester. She was a fantastic baker and kept her family supplied with breads, cakes, cookies, and other delicious desserts. She enjoyed arts and crafts and made many knick-knacks for her home and others. Kay and Jerry enjoyed camping, starting out in tents when the children were young. Later, they owned various motor homes and would often take friends with them on trips throughout the US. They wintered in the Southwest for many years, often with relatives.

Kay suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and resided the last 20 months of her life at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester where she passed away peacefully.

Kay is survived by her husband, Jerome; sons, Michael (Barbara) of Rochester, MN and Douglas of St. Peter, MN; and four grandchildren, Scott Ewen of Seoul, South Korea, Trisha (Alex) Russell of Stewartville, MN, Mina Lein of Minneapolis, MN and Lonzo McHenry of Lake City, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Verne and Wesley; her sister, Marine Benschoter; and her daughter, Jennifer Ewen.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research Clinic.

A Celebration of Life followed by luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, Rochester, MN. Lunch will begin at 12:00 p.m.
