A Memorial Mass for Dolores C. McDermott will be held at 11:30AM at St. Pius X  Catholic Church on Friday, June 25, 2010 with Father Charlie I. Collins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Dolores C. McDermott, age 83, of Rochester, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010 at her home. Dolores was born on November 6, 1926 in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1944. On June 12, 1948, she married Richard “Dick” McDermott at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester. Due to Richards work with IBM, the family lived in various places, including Colorado, New Jersey, and North Dakota, before returning to Rochester in 1977. While raising their family, Dolores worked in sales for Massey’s and Hunt Drug before her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at Assisi Heights and Channel One.  She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her generosity and readiness to help those in need. Survivors include her four sons: Richard, and Steven (Nancy) both of Lafayette, CO, Mark (Barb) of Hamilton, Va., Andy (Michelle) of Rochester, two sisters: Dorothy (Maurice) Brown of Rochester, and Lorraine (Don) Theide of Owatonna, three grandchildren: Adrian, Tim, and Brian, and numerous neices and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter-in-law, Mindi, and a sister, Rosemary.

Memorials are preferred to the Sisters of St. Francis at Assisi Heights, the St. Mary’s Hospital Poverello Fund, or Season’s Hospice.
