Elizabeth “Betty” Williams
Elizabeth “Betty” Williams, 91, of Rochester passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester on June 24, 2019. She was born in Valders, WI to Christian and Hannah Reinertson on March 20, 1928. Betty graduated from Valders H.S. in 1946 and attended St. Olaf College for a year. Betty worked as a Lab Tech at the Mayo Clinic from 1947-58; was a telephone operator and managed a news stand before attaining her LPN license from Rochester Area Vocational Institute in 1972.
Betty worked at Rochester Methodist Hospital-Mayo Clinic as a floor nurse for 4 years and then a surgical scrub nurse for 14 years. She retired March 20, 1990 after a long and fulfilling nursing career.
She was a faithful member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. Enjoyed her trips “Up North” to her northern Wisconsin cabin on the lake; especially with the “Hummers 5”.
She enjoyed bowling, was a passionate card player, devoted Green Packer fan and in her later years, traveling. She was a proud Norwegian and was very proud of her family.
She is survived by her children Sandy (Mike) Bolger, Jeri (Doug) Balm, Brenda (Dan) Kroll, Craig (Julie) Williams, and Julie (Marty) Christopherson; grandchildren Hannah, Laura (Dan), Conor (Tiril), Emily, Kevin, Erin, Ben, Jason, A.J, Calvin, Tyler, Samanthia (David) and Michael. She is further survived by great-grandchildren, good friends, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clayton Christopherson and Jerald Williams, sons Gary and Paul, a brother Harold, and two sisters, Thora and Carol.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28 at 11 AM at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester with a public visitation one hour prior.
