Anthony M. Roetzler
Anthony Maximilian Roetzler, 88, of Rochester died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from heart failure.
He was born August 5, 1930 to Francis Henry and Leocadia (Antczak) Roetzler in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato then served in the Minnesota National Guard during the Korean War. He lived in Santa Monica, CA where he attended plumbing trade school and worked as an apprentice.
On June 23, 1956, he married Virginia Mary Collins of Brooklyn, NY. He was employed by Dornack & Sons Plumbing and Heating and Maass Plumbing and Heating before founding his own business, Economy Service Plumbing and Heating in 1970. He retired in 1989.
Anthony enjoyed farming over 50 years and built a six ton aluminum 32 foot sailboat. He took the boat on two adventurous trips up and down the Mississippi River and Tombigbee Waterway. He sailed ten days on the Gulf of Mexico and took a five day trip from Mobile Bay, Alabama to Punta Gorda, Florida. His last trip was sailing to the Florida Dry Tortuga’s.
He enjoyed building many projects and always helping others.
Survivors include his three daughters, Monica (Ron Troendle) of Caledonia, Catherine of Rochester, and Margaret (Brian Simonson) of Rochester; and son, Thomas Roetzler of Rochester. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Francis John Roetzler of Buffalo, MN.
Memorials are suggested to Birthright of Rochester.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
