Roy Andrew Zieman

Roy Andrew Zieman, 80, passed away peacefully at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Roy was born on October 6, 1938 in Rochester to Henry and Stella (Joslin) Zieman. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1958. Soon thereafter, he enlisted in the US Army Reserves and served in 554th Maintenance Division stationed in Wabasha, MN. He was honorably discharged. Roy farmed for years with his brother David near Elgin, MN, before settling in Chester, MN. He resided in Chester until 2017, when he went to live at Prairie Meadows Senior Community in Kasson, MN. He worked at Fleen’s Truck Parts in Rural Byron, MN for years. Roy was an avid auction attendee, where he made many friends over the years. He was a kind man who was loved deeply by his family and all those who knew him.

He is survived by his sister, Roberta McDermott of Chaska, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

The funeral service for Roy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home (1119 11 1/2 Street SE Rochester, MN 55904) with Rev. Linda Helberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. A private family burial will occur at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
