Albert “Al” Jech

The funeral service for Albert Martin Henry Jech will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.  Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Elkton, MN.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the chapel on Friday.

Mr. Jech, 85, most recently of Kasson died at his residence at Prairie Meadows Senior Living on Monday, October 8, 2018, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Albert was born May 5, 1933, in rural Dexter to Henry and Elsie (Boehm) Jech.  On March 12, 1955, he married Mavis Benson.  Together they had five children. They later divorced in 1985. Prior to living in Kasson, Albert resided in several area communities including Rochester, Hayfield, and Stewartville.  Albert had a strong work ethic and spent most of his working years in farming while working in the dairy, pork, and poultry industries.  His longest employment opportunities during his career included working with pork and poultry for Larson Products in Sargeant and then in manufacturing at McNeilus Companies in Dodge Center.

Albert was a longtime member of Evanger Lutheran church in Sargeant.  He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and also loved spending time with his family and attending the sporting events that his children and grandchildren were involved in.

Survivors include his five children, Pamela K. Jech of Rochester, Douglas D. Jech of Sargeant, Rick A. (Carol) Jech of Rochester, Kathleen M. (Phillip) Struckmann of Kasson and Randall J. Jech of Waseca; his siblings, Clarence Jech of Elgin, Loren Jech of Chatfield, and Leona “Beezie” Cambern of Fountain; seven grandchildren, Jessica of Minneapolis, Matthew of Rochester, Samuel and Daniel of Rochester, Samantha and Aaron of Kasson, and Taylor of Rochester; two step grandchildren, Kimberly and Melissa of Pine Island, and one great-grandson, James of Rochester.  He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis; his brothers, Robert and Kenny Jech; and three sisters, Edna Farmer, Mildred Sherwin, and Lillian Schmidt.

The family extends a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice and the staff of Prairie Meadows Senior Living. Memorials are preferred to Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson.
