Benjamin Rosenblatt

Benjamin (Benjie) Rosenblatt died at home on Friday, April 20, 2018. He was born January 13, 1967 in Seattle, WA. The family moved to Rochester in 1974 from Pacific Palisades, California. Ben graduated from Lourdes High School in 1985. While at Lourdes, Ben played hockey and football. He was one of the star goalies for the hockey team for four years.

Since graduating high school, Ben worked at Methodist Hospital and at the Rochester Rec Center where he supervised the maintenance of the ice rink and loved driving the Zamboni.

Ben’s mother always thought of him as a special gift from God. He always looked out for her and they shared an extraordinary bond. Ben took so much pride in Hayden, his 24-year-old nephew, who brought so much joy to his life. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Youness Junio Bojji who has always been thought of as part of the family. Not only was he a good friend to Ben, but he was also like a brother. Junio spent a lot of time with Ben in the last year and was always there for Ben when he needed him.

One of Ben’s favorite places was his father’s cabin up north where he would hunt and fish. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid bike rider.

Ben was a quiet and gentle man. He had a large Irish heart and a smile that beamed. He was kind and caring to his family and friends. He would not hesitate to give a warm hug and soft words.

Ben is survived by his parents, Gail and Mike Kleinschmidt, and Jon and Wendy Rosenblatt; three sisters, Becky, Sarah, and Molly Rosenblatt; five brothers, Patrick (Kara), Paul (Carrie), Peter, Tom (Nadia) Kleinschmidt, and Kalmon Rosenblatt. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Concussion Legacy Foundation or the Izaak Walton League.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Haremza presiding. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
