Helen “Pat” Quiter

Helen Patricia “Pat” Quiter, a long-time Rochester, Minnesota resident, died at the Charter House of Rochester on the seventeenth of January. The body was donated to the Mayo Anatomy Department for Research.

The Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Father John LaSuba presiding. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Pat was born on August 10, 1915 in Chicago, and moved to Elmhurst, Illinois at the age of 10. She lived there until 1940. She married Joseph J. Quiter in Elmhurst on July 23, 1938.

After graduating from York High School in Elmhurst, she had her own “School of Dancing” for five years. She and Joe moved to Milwaukee in 1940, and stayed until 1946, including the time while Joe was on active duty in the Military. She worked for A.O. Smith of Milwaukee during that time.

She and Joe moved to Rochester in 1946, where they raised their family. She was active in St. Francis Rosary Society, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and, for 35 years, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was also on various committees at the Charter House, where she moved with Joe and had lived since 1987.

Pat is survived by two sons: John (Elaine) of Berkeley, CA and James (Karen) of Walnut Creek, CA.; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Connor, Jill Hedlund, Joel Connor, Jacquelyn Bacigalupi, Aron Quiter, Brian Quiter, Jeffrey Quiter, and Leslie Quiter; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her daughter Jane Connor (Jerry) of Sauk Rapids, MN, her parents, and two brothers.

The family prefers memorials to Charter House Benevolent Care Fund, or to a charity of the Donor’s choice.

The family of Helen “Pat” Quiter has received the following condolences.

To the Quiter Family,

My deepest condolences for your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

God bless,

Katherine

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Helen Quiter, truly sorry for the pain and emptiness of heart you must feel at this time. Death is certainly an enemy that take those we love and leave much pain and emptiness of heart. Soon Almighty God will undo all the pain, suffering and death forever. Giving the opportunity for life on a peaceful earth with eternal blessings. (Psalm 37:29, Revelation 21:4)

The Kane family spent a lot of Thanksgivings with the Quiter family and I will always remember the slide shows. Mom and I were fortunate to visit a year ago. Patsy was a special lady.
