Catherine C. Rivers

The Funeral Mass for Catherine Rivers will be at 11:00AM, Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating.  Visitation will be from 3:00PM – 6:00PM, Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior at the church on Monday.  Burial will be Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Rivers, 93, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Cottagewood  Senior Community.

The former Catherine C. Arnoldy was born at Rollingstone, Minnesota on May 8, 1924 and married Norbert J. Rivers there on October 22, 1945.  Mr. Rivers passed away on September 6, 2002.

Catherine worked in the Rochester Public Schools Cafeteria at John Marshall for 16 years and retired in 1987.

She was a charter member of St. Pius X Parish and the C.C.W. St. Teresa group. She played the organ for Sunday Mass and  was also responsible for starting and maintaining the votive candles at church.  She was a spiritual member in the Legion of Mary and an active member in the Rochester Coronary Club.  She was a volunteer for many years at the Samaritan Nursing Homes.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice (William) Hoffman of Gilbert, MN; two sons, Richard (Diane) Rivers of Rochester and Ronald Rivers of Rochester; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her  parents, three brothers, three sisters and her grandson Marc.
