James Robert “Jim” Battey
James Robert “Jim” Battey, 56, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 3, 2017.
The memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 8 at Pax Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Will Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00PM on Friday, July 7, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with one hour prior at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams, MN.
Jim was born on October 15, 1960 in Rochester, MN to Robert and Eunice Battey. Jim grew up in Chatfield, MN with his three sisters and graduated from Chosen Valley High School in 1979.
On December 31, 1986, Jim married Mary Jo Schneider of Adams, MN. They were married for 30 years.
Jim worked as a commercial truck driver for Waste Management for several dedicated years of service. Jim had a passion for NASCAR, golf, baseball, making wine, warm weather, and above all, his family.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Mary Jo; two daughters, Amy (Josh) Seifert, and Hilary (fiancé Jack Carr) Battey of Rochester; one grandson, Mason James Seifert; siblings, Sharon (Matt) Manahan of Chatfield, Joan (Robert) Stroebel of Billings, MT, Anne (Randy) Schultz of Mabel; and many loving family members and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother; father; father-in-law, Robert Schneider; and nephew, Timothy Dahley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Brains Together for a Cure. The family of Jim Battey wishes to thank all of their friends, family and Season’s Hospice for their unconditional support during Jim’s fight against cancer. Team Jimbo will live on forever.

Mary Jo and Family, I want to pass along my sincere sympathies on the passing of Jimbo. Unfortunately the Nonn's were out of town during his visitation and celebration of life. Jim was a cool dude. I always enjoyed hangin with him and he always made me smile. He was a battler and I will always remember him as a wonderful person. I was a part of team Jimbo and always will be.
