Sharon Kathryn Teske
Sharon Kathryn Teske, age 60, of Rochester, passed away at her home on March 11, 2010 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Sharon Kathryn Throndson was born on July 4, 1949 in New Hampton, Iowa to Clarence and Rita Throndson. Sharon graduated from New Hampton High School in 1967 and went on to get an Interior Decorating degree from Calmar Community College in Calmar Iowa. On June 1, 1974 she married Dennis Teske in New Hampton Iowa. In 1991 Sharon and Dennis bought Gillespie Sporting Goods in Rochester, which the family continues to operate today. Sharon had a special passion for children, and dedicated over 30 years of her life to providing daycare for many families. She cared for and loved her daycare children as if they were her own. In recent years, she was able to love and care for her own grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dennis, two sons, Aaron and Troy (Jennifer) Teske both of Rochester, a daughter, Jeni (Adam) Holmvig of Rochester, her parents, Clarence and Rita Throndson of New Hampton Iowa, her brother Joe Throndson of New Hampton, a mother-in-law, Helen Teske, and four grandchildren, Tyler, Danika, Hailey, and Ella. She is preceded in death by aunts and uncles, and a father-in-law.
Sharon was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. She taught 2nd grade First Communion classes for 7 years. In her free-time she loved to garden, paint ceramics, and interior decorate. Sharon and Dennis took countless weekend trips in her convertible. Sharon will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She has touched so many lives, and her memory will live on forever.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:30AM with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
