Jeanette (Judy) Frances Flanders (Tlougan), 96, died peacefully on December 2, 2016 at Willows & Waters Senior Living in Rochester.
Judy was born on Oct. 29, 1920 in Quincy County, MN on the family farm. She attended grade school in Dover. In addition to helping her mom at home, she also did housework for other people. She also worked for Waters Conley, Libby’s, and Arnold’s Clothing in Rochester, MN.
She married Harold Flanders on Sept. 27, 1941 in Reno, Nevada where they lived for a couple of years. While her husband was serving his country during World War II, she lived in California. After he returned from the war, they moved back to MN. During their married life, Judy and her husband bought and remodeled the historic Kutzky home which was a boarding/apartment home that they managed for many years. They were married for 72 years.
Judy enjoyed designing decorative birdhouses, painting, quilting, crocheting, baking, gardening, fishing, playing the accordion, and collecting chicken statues.
Judy is survived by her sisters, Ione Leitzen and Marcella (Larry) Swenson, and many nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her dear friend, Kay. She was preceded by her husband Harold, 12 brothers: Sylvester, Bernard, Benjamin, Clayton, Romeo, Robert, Isadore, Leonard, Charles, David, Dale, Donald, and one sister, Darlene.
Thank you to all the staff at Willows and Waters in Rochester for their compassionate, loving, family care that they showed Judy.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Following the visitation, burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
