Robert was born on February 5, 1926, in Rochester, MN, to Paul and Loretta (Blake) Seaman. He married Donna Lindberg on June 1, 1947, at Calvary Episcopal Church, Rochester, MN. Following his first wife’s death, he married Lorraine Cain on November 23, 1996, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN.
Robert graduated from Rochester High School in 1943 and spent the following three months as a forest ranger in Idaho. He entered the Army in April 1944 where he eventually was based at the 13th Station Hospital in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged as Master Sergeant in May 1946.
Following his discharge from the Army, he attended night classes in accounting while working at MC Lawler’s Clothing store. He worked for Veely Ryan and Seven-Up Bottling Companies. He retired from Pace Electronic in Rochester, MN, in 1996, before moving to East Gull Lake.
He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading multiple daily newspapers and spending time relishing the views from the deck of their home on Ruth Lake. He was an avid walker until health issues no longer allowed him to enjoy the pastime. As a youth, he rode his bicycle from Rochester to LaCrosse, WI, long before ten-speed bicycles. Robert was a member of the American Legion and Elks Club where he was Exalter Ruler in 1976. He was a charter member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Susan (Bruce) Vold, Fountain Hills, AZ, Cindi (Bill) Smalley, Rochester, MN, Cheryl (Joe) Frear, Waseca, MN; one stepdaughter, Nanci (Jerry) Lind; 8 grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; one sister, Shirley (Donald) Jorgensen; and one brother, Richard Seaman.
