Marjorie Ann Gunderson

The funeral Mass for Marjorie Ann Gunderson will be 11:00AM Friday, October 7, 2016 at St Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Collins officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, October 6, 2016 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour before the service at church on Friday.

Mrs. Gunderson, 87, a long time resident of Rochester passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Willows and Waters Senior Living in Rochester.

Marjorie was born July 9, 1929 in Carroll County Iowa to John W. and Philomena E. (Balk) Hofbauer. When she arrived in Rochester she worked at the Princess Café where she met her husband.  On October 14, 1947, she married Harold Gunderson in Pine Island, MN. In the early 70s she worked as a lifeguard and taught special needs children to swim at the YMCA. Later in life, she worked for various homebuilders.

Survivors include her husband Harold; her children, Sandra Gunderson, Gary Gunderson, Rick (Pam) Gunderson, Heidi (Jerry) Holthe, Kim (Richard) Ellis, Lisa (Ted) Mason all of Rochester, Mark (Dennise) Gunderson of Pine Island, and David (Denise) Gunderson of Byron; her grandchildren, Amber, Alicia, Jon, Jodi, Jesse, Jamie, Cory, Jeremy, Jessica, Chad, Colten, Logan, Daniel, Amanda, Angeleena, Joshua, Jacob, Jonathon; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her sisters Sharon, Ruth, Imogene, Connie, and her brothers Donald, Stanley, Steven, Dale and Royden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Philomena; daughter Linda Harget; daughter-in-law Kathy Gunderson; and sisters Shirley Rose, Verniel, and Verla.

Marjorie was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.  She loved gardening, fishing, boating, playing cards, and crocheting.
