Eleanor R. Kelly

Eleanor Rose Kelly, 92 of Rochester, died Thursday (February 25, 2010) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.  A memorial  Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday March 1, 2010 at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. Gerald A. Mahon officiating.

Eleanor was born September 23, 1917, in Los Angeles, California to Lewis O. and Edith Wheeler. She attended Los Angeles High School and Immaculate Heart College both in Los Angeles.   On September 6, 1941, she married Clinton J. Kelly at Cathedral Chapel Catholic Church in Los Angeles.  They were married for 59 years until the death of Mr. Kelly on August 26, 2000.

Mrs. Kelly lived her entire life in Southern California until she moved to Charter House  in 2004. She was a devoted wife and mother and was active in numerous civic and church organizations in the Los Angeles area.  She and her husband enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending lots of time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons James C. (Susan) of Rochester and Tom Kelly of El Dorado Hills, CA., and one daughter Suzanne (Jerry) Bacot of Plano, Texas. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

A memorial service will be held in Laguna Hills, Ca at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Mark Catholic School Education Trust Fund in Plano, Texas or to the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester.
