Gary A. Noser
Gary A. Noser, 67, of Rochester, died peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Season’s Hospice after a decade long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
Gary was born on July 5th, 1948 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Kenneth and Lois (Krier) Noser. He lived in Pine Island, Minnesota for five years before moving to Rochester. He attended Rochester public schools, graduating from John Marshall High in 1966. He then attended the University of Arizona for one year to play baseball. Gary then transferred to the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1972. Following graduation, he concluded a one year internship at the Henry Berg Memorial Hospital of the ASPCA in New York City. He then completed a two year surgical residency at Michigan State University under the eminent veterinary orthopaedic pioneer, Dr. Wade O. Brinker. Orthopaedic surgery later became the centerpiece of Gary’s veterinary practice. On June 26, 1971 he married Joan Huey at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. Their marriage of 44 years was blessed with four children and countless happy memories.
Gary and Joan opened Quarry Hill Park Animal Hospital in 1978. Over the next 30 years, Gary built his practice into a very successful endeavor. A gifted surgeon, he would routinely handle difficult orthopaedic referral cases from the tristate area. He was respected by his colleagues and loved by his clients.
Gary assisted his wife with the design of the family home in Rochester. With great enthusiasm, he completed the plumbing, wiring, and all interior finish work while simultaneously beginning his veterinary practice. A talented athlete, he successfully competed at the high school and college level. His love of sports continued through the rest of his life as a little league baseball coach, avid golfer and golf coach for his daughter Molly. He loved his wife, his children, baseball, fast cars, and Robert Ludlum novels. A faithful Catholic, Gary gave generously of his time and treasure. He was a devoted husband and nurturing father. Sedulous, unpretentious and ethical, his principles were unbending. He instilled these values in his children.
Gary is survived by his father, Ken of Rochester; children, Jessica (Yasir) Aziz of Virginia, Britt (Kelly) Noser of Rochester, Josh (Ann) Noser of Rochester, Molly (Nick) Jarrett of Rochester; grandchildren Kristian, Leopold, Frederick, Theodor, Marie, Helene, Nadia, Wilhelm, Isaac, and Thomas; siblings Vicky (Steve) Finger and Joett (Bruce) Charno. He was preceded in death by his mother and wife.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the compassionate and loving staff of Season’s Hospice.

Condolences
The family of Gary A. Noser has received the following condolences.
I am sorry that I wasn't able to join Mary Ann at Gary's service. I stopped by Seasons to see Gary twice in the past few months after Joan died. He lit up the last time when I mentioned watching Molly and our Granddaughter, Courtney, playing tennis together for Lourdes. I know he was a very caring man and I saw Joan and Gary many times at daily Mass at St Francis before I moved my office out by St Pius X. They had a wonderful faith, and I'm sure that was comforting to them as they journeyed through health challenges. It is also comforting to know that they have left so many good memories for their family to cherish. In sympathy, Bill Kleis
To The Noser Family,
I was very sad to read of the passing of Dr. Noser. Though the family doesn't know me - Dr Noser took wonderful care of my 2 dogs. I had a Cocker Spaniel, Murphy and a Cairn Terrier, Tootsie. He took loving and kind care of both dogs. He was a wonderful man who died far too young. I was also sad to read that your Mother died recently as well. May God hold them both in His loving arms. My prayers for your family.
Sincerely,
Katy Park
Wonderful Man...Great Doctor....Kind Heart......Gentle Soul. Life well lived.
Molly,
Prayers to you and your family during this time of transition and healing. We watched as both your parents supported you, engaged in all you loved, stood beside you always, and beamed with pride throughout your childhood and as an adult. What a blessing to have such a wonderful father and mother! Their faith and love shined brightly and now that light continues to shine on through you and your beautiful family. Peace of heart and blessings as you celebrate the beautiful gift of your dad. The world is a better place because of him.
With love, Mary & Todd Kelsey
I remember Gary as a devoted husband, a loyal and firm father, a patient fisherman, a skilled athlete, a detailed craftsman, and an adherent to traditional religious and social values. Gary was a role model to his niece and our daughter, Liz, who is now a veterinary surgeon due in part to Gary's generous and loving support. I especially remember his devotion to his father, Ken. As Ken aged, Gary helped out with chores and emergencies large and small. The two watched Twins and Vikings games regularly. And Gary and Ken helped Molly become the sensational golfer she is. I know Gary accomplished lots more in his life, but those are the things I was lucky enough to witness. He leaves a huge legacy of love and learning that will continue for generations.
My sympathies to the family of Dr. Noser. He was a kind, compassionate man and we felt fortunate that he cared for three of our dogs. I imagine he got quite a welcome from a barrage of animals when he entered heaven.
Kind and gentle, to pets and people.
Sorry for your loss. My grandma Mary Ann always spoke so well of Gary. So sad this horrible illness had to take such a wonderful person! Prayers for your family!
Gary helped so many in his Veterinarian Career. We called on him many times, and his sympathy for our pet injuries was genuine. We know his personality was reflected in his helpfulness, and his family shows this, as well. God Bless all the work Gary did for others. May he rest from his labors.
