Michael Henry Lynch

Michael Henry Lynch, 73, of Rochester, MN, passed away on March 19, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Mike was born November 12, 1942, in Lanesboro, MN, to Edward and Myrtle (Andreas) Lynch. He graduated from Lanesboro High School and the University of Minnesota. On June 27, 1964, he married Claudette Drahota at Good Shepherd Church in Jackson, MN.

Mike spent his entire career in the farm equipment business. He started out with International Harvester, and moved often with the company early in his career before settling in Worthington, MN for 18 years. In 1993 he moved to Norfolk, NE, and was co-owner and general manager for Vacin, Inc., a John Deere dealer in Humphrey, NE. Mike retired in 2012, and shortly thereafter Mike and Claudette moved to Rochester.

Mike was a member of the Southeast Minnesota SCORE. He enjoyed being outdoors, long walks, golfing, and old time tractor rides. His pride and joy was his 1955 Farmall 400, originally purchased by his father and later found and restored by Mike. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed history and novels. Although disappointed throughout his life by the Vikings, Mike finally found a winner to cheer for in the Nebraska Huskers.

Mike is survived by his wife, Claudette; children Patrick of Sartell, MN, Todd (Jenny) of Hugo, MN, and Michelle of Brentwood, CA; two grandchildren, Zack and Jessica; sister and brother-in- laws, Nancy and John Gates, Marian and Roger Flink; and sister-in-law, Patricia Drahota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Claude and Emily Drahota, and brother-in-law Bill Drahota.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be 11:30 to 1:00 at the church. The Rev. Tom Loomis will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by his family.

Dear Claudette and family,

I was so sorry to hear that Michael has passed away. He and I were classmates in Lanesboro and rode the bus home together for many years.  One of the nicest and gentlest of friends. It was such a pleasant weekend spent celebrating a 50 year high school reunion together a few years ago and finding Michael unchanged by the battles of life. And of course still good looking!  Claudette and I were college classmates as well, and you two were the best of matches.....both kind and loving to each other and to those you were surrounded by.  What lucky children you are to have the good fortune of being  born to Michael and Claudette!  With love and prayers, Colleen

he was a great friend and mentor. He will be missed. I want to express my condolences to the family for your  loss.  He is in good hands.

Sincerely,

Allen Mason and the team at Mason Machinery

Claudette, Pat, Todd, and Michelle:

Please accept our condolences.  Mike was such a good person, and a great role model. We hope these memories and knowing that he is in a good place eases your pain.

You are in our thoughts and prayers,

Mike and Kristin Schimek

Mike will be missed by many.  My association with him as a Deere dealer, gave me respect for a man who was a thinker and communicator.  I valued and respected his insights, and enjoyed the times we could socialize at meetings.  My condolences to his family.  Arlan Schaap

We will certainly miss Mike's good humor and insight at SE Minnesota SCORE.  RIP, Mike!  You will be missed!

We will miss Mike, our brother-in-law, more than words can describe.  We loved him dearly.  We will always remember him as a kind and gentle man, one always with a smile on his face and always there to help when needed.  His intelligence, his wit and many discussions about the world in general will be missed.  We are reminded of the words Mom said at brother Bill's funeral, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."  He was gift we will all cherish and hold close to our hearts and thank the Lord for the wonderful gift he gave us in Mike Lynch. The words of the Irish Blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields.  And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Todd,

So sorry to hear about your dad.

Prayers to you and your family.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Claudette and Mike's family!

We could not have found a more keen individual then Mike, in helping us to make our business the success that it was.  It was an honor and privilege to have Mike as an integral part of our organization (Vacin Inc).  Thank you Mike, for your years of relentless devotion!  God bless you and your family!

So sorry to hear of your father's passing.  We are holding you and your family close in prayer through this difficult time.

Patrick and family,

Our deepest sympathies.

Claudette, Pat, Todd & Michelle,

How fortunate we were when Mike took a risk to visit a small Nebraska town to pursue a managerial position for a farm equipment dealer of another color.  There are not enough words to describe Mike.  I think of determination, kindness, patience, friendliness, integrity, businessman.  He helped turn a slumbering John Deere dealership into one of the largest dealerships in the state of Nebraska.  I cannot help but picture him, at this very moment, with that confident smile on his face or his witty comments.  Obviously, God has a bigger project in mind that only Mike could tackle.  That can be the only reason that he took Mike away from us so early in his retirement.  Claudette, Pat, Todd & Michelle, our prayers and thoughts are with you in this time of loss.

So sorry for your loss Pat. Prayers are with you and family.

My condolences to the Lynch family. Mike and I worked together at Tractor Salvage and did many deals on whole goods he was fun to work with we will miss him.

Claudette, sorry to hear of your loss.  We remember both of you with fond memories. I wish I had known that you lived in Rochester.  Our daughters have lived there since college. They both teach in the Rochester district. We would attend Holy Spirit Church whenever we were there. We still live in Worthington.

Hopefully, we can get together the next time we are in Rochester. We are away right now on a trip. I wish we could attend Mike's mass of resurrection. Thinking of you. Elena

Our deepest sympathies are with you during this time of loss.    My family lives close to Humphrey, NE, so heard a lot about Mike trying to sell my family "green tractors". My family owned everything but green.  Had a great conversation with Mike at Perkins in Worthington while Mike and Claudette still lived in Nebraska.  Talked about farming, the differences between Minnesota and Nebraska, and catching up on life.  Claudette and I were Bridge marathon partners so many great memories of the Lynch family.

May all of you find comfort in the knowledge that Mike's kindness, compassion and spirit will live on through those Mike has left behind.

Mike served in the southeast Minnesota chapter of SCORE. He was a well-respected member of that group and a joy to serve with. He was helpful to several  business owners  during his time with us. He will be missed.

Mike was a good friend for many years, he hired me in 1979 at Watland Int . Lots of memories  ,my prayers are with the family

It is hard to write what I feel with the loss of such a good friend. I have only know Mike for about 2 1/2 years but in that time he impacted my life with his talents and genuineness of character and spirit. My miss my good friend.

DE and I are sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Claudette you and family are in our prayers. Love, Janie
