Dolores E. “Betty” Anderson

Dolores Elizabeth “Betty” Anderson took her last breaths in Rochester, MN on December 26th, 2015 (probably because she would think it rude to ruin Christmas). She loved lilies and irises, made the best oatmeal raisin and sugar cookies, and took every opportunity to hug puppies and babies. She was famous for her sparkling clean house (so spic and span you could eat off the kitchen floor without concern) and her baked chicken (that no one else has been able to replicate). She loved her grandchildren, Fred and Marie, even when she couldn’t remember their names.

Born on February 13th, 1930, Dolores was raised on a dairy farm in Onamia, MN. She very much enjoyed attending college in St. Cloud. In her day, the options for women were nursing or teaching, so she became a grade school teacher. After some years teaching, she earned her Master’s degree, then worked as a librarian in Osseo, MN. Although Dolores disliked being set up on blind dates, when Jerry Anderson called on her birthday to ask her out she said “yes.” When he showed up, she spied at himthrough the peephole and decided he looked so scared he must be a nice guy. A year and half later, they married, then had a child whose life they filled with a love for musicals, concerts, and plays. Together, they enjoyed many books, hikes, and ice cream cones.

Dolores leaves behind a daughter, Ann (Josh) Noser; two grandchildren, Fred and Marie; two brothers, Dan (Linda) Van Risseghem and Greg (Marian) Van Risseghem; one sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Fischer; one sister in law, Jo Ann (Donald) Van

Risseghem; countless nieces and nephews (every niece provided in her childhood with a deluxe hand-made Barbie doll clothing collection); and many friends. She waspreceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her brother, Donald; and both parents.

A Funeral Mass for Dolores will be celebrated at 2:30PM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Mark McNea. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to your local library. Macken Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.

Condolences

The family of Dolores E. “Betty” Anderson has received the following condolences.

I do not know you, and you do not know me.  But after reading the beautiful obituary you wrote for your Mom (I assume that

it was written by her daughter) I just wanted to say it was the most lovely, sweet, remarkably unusual and compelling

account of a loved mommy's life ..... that I have ever read.

Kindly,

A Reader in Chippewa Falls WI

Ann-

Ann,  So sorry for your loss, but glad she's no longer suffering.  The obituary you wrote was a wonderful tribute to your Mother.  I just loved it.  Sorry I won't be there for the service, but know that I'll be holding down the fort. Karen

What a lovely obituary Ann.  My sympathies to you and Josh and the kids55.

Our condolences to Ann, Josh and family. Your Mom is at peace now in heaven with her soul mate, Jerry. Keep the good memories in your heart, and they will be there, when you need them.
