Gerald W. (Jerry Post) Posthumus, Jr.

Gerald W. Posthumus, Jr., 63, of Rochester passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 5, 2015 due to a heart condition.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 8, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.

Gerald was born on November 15, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Alice and Gerald Posthumus, Sr. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1970. He married Evelyn (Wintrick) Posthumus, on June 10, 1972 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester.

Gerald is survived by his wife Evelyn, his son Gerald Posthumus III, his father Gerald Posthumus Sr. of Rochester; 2 brothers – Bruce Posthumus of Rosemount, MN and Ted Posthumus of Faribault, MN; 2 grandsons – Ethan and Owen Posthumus of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his Mother and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Gerald was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather; and a beloved friend to those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gerald’s family.

A private interment will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.

Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Truly and deeply saddened for your loss! He really was a great man with a wit that could brighten a day!! Great memories of him in the tow truck!! Hope you are doing as well as can be expected and sorry I couldn't be there for the memorial!

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family for your loss.  I was a classmate of Jerry's and he always knew you whether on the street or at a class reunion.  His smiling face and the great conversations will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go to Evie, Jerry and family. We were friends from National T and neighbors in South Pointe. He will be missed!

He would stop by and see us at Old River Valley Antique Mall a couple times a week. I will miss his smiling face but will always cherish all of the conversations that we had with Jerry.
