Lonnie G. Neal

Lonnie G. Neal – Rochester, MN

Lonnie George Neal died on January 9, 2010 in Rochester, MN. Lonnie was born on February 29, 1928 to Noah and Gertrude Stromile Neal in Lookeba, OK.  In 1952 he moved to Milwaukee, WI. He was a resident there until 1972, when he moved to Indiana.  He has also resided in Denver, CO, and Charolotte, NC.  In 2003 he moved to Rochester, MN.  Lonnie was a Mechanical Engineer for General Motors, retiring in 1987. Lonnie married Arvella Franklin in September, 1950 in Hennepin, OK. Arvella was a teacher for the Indiana Public Schools.

Lonnie enjoyed carpentry, gardening and sports.  He was active in his church for many years.  He served as a church deacon, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and his local Hospice Center. He was a member of Rochester Community Baptist Church.  He was also enlisted in the United States Army from October 1950 to September 1952.

Survivors include his wife Arvella; daughters Lonzetta Neal, of Rochester, and Patricia Neal, of Charolotte, NC; and three grandchildren.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Gertrude, brother Nathanial Neal, sister Lena Mae Mitchell, and son Anthony Neal.

The service for Lonnie will be held on Wednesday, January 13 at 1:00PM at the Rochester Community Baptist Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Kenneth Rowe officiating.  Friends may call one half hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will be at a later date in Oklahoma.
