Einer William Hansen, 80, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Einer was born January 23, 1935, in Farmington, MN to Hans Peter and Mabel (Kubista) Hansen. Einer was a graduate of Farmington High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

On October 11, 1958 he married Beverly Rasmussen in Austin, MN. He was a sheet metal worker for thirty five years and he also worked at Wal-Mart for 10 years. Einer and his wife Bev traveled the country for a few years and then became snowbirds in Texas for 15 years. Einer’s hobbies included stain glass, wood carving, cards, casinos and bingo.

Einer is survived by his “sunshine” Beverly of 56 years; a son David (Lisa) and their children, Lucas and Susan, from Rochester, MN; a daughter Nancy (Gary) Fabian and their children, Nicole and Erich, from Rochester, MN; Natalie (Robert) Rhodes of Phoenix, AZ and his beloved dog, Sammy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Einer was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Mary Jo, and two sisters, Margaret Tripp and Ann Shane.

Condolences

The family of Einer W. Hansen has received the following condolences.

So sorry for your loss.  Einer was a super nice guy.  He took my chip carving class.  We also shared stories about our Norwegian heritages, especially lutefisk and lefsa.  I sure will miss him at our carving sessions.

Beverly and family,

Our hearts and prayers go out to you as we heard the news of Einer's passing.  We have always enjoyed greeting him with a wave or a hello as he came out and walked his dog or went to the mailbox and we will miss this.  May the Lord hold you and comfort you all through this time of grief.

Your neighbors.

Mick and Diana Reese

So very sorry for your loss. Praying for your family that you are able to find comfort in knowing that Einer is at peace.

Einar is a favorite first cousin(of Karen's).  We always enjoyed visiting with him at the reunions and other gatherings.  He will be missed.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to you, Bev, and the family.

We will keep you in our thoughts and hope that time and warm memories will bring you comfort.  We send you prayers for comfort as you mourn the loss of Einer.

Einer was a very special man and neighbor.  We would pull up a couple of chairs outside and have a nice visit.  Our dog Buddy would get so excited when he saw Einer and Sammy walking down the side walk.

It got to the point where Buddy wanted to go to Einer's and Bev's house to live and I would have to carry him home when we walked by their house.

Our sympathy to Bev and family including Sammy.

I sat next to Einer many times on Tuesday mornings at the Senior Center in Rochester working on our wood carving projects the last couple of years.   Einer would share stories each time of some of his interesting life experiences through the years.    He was a good carver & was ready to share his skills & ideas on the latest projects he had worked on that he brought along to the group.    Besides his family, he also enjoyed talking about a special friend, his dog.   I, as well as many others, will really miss Einer & his sense of humor!    Our thoughts & prayers are with his family.  Thanks for sharing Einer with his wood carving friends.

My condolences to all in the passing of Einer. I first met Einer at a chip carving class I taught at Red Barn Retreats in Garden City, MN. I was immediately drawn to his pleasant personality and keen sense of humor. I'd see him again at Carv-Fest in Faribault and at the Rochester Woodcarvers Club meetings. I will miss him.

Bev & family

Our sympathies with you as you go though this grieving process.  We are thinking of you and sending prayers for all.

We are so glad we were able to visit in July when Einer was feeling good and was himself.  We have been friends since we started traveling to TX with Einer and Bev.

Hank always enjoyed their BS sessions weekly on the phone when not in TX.

We will send a Memorial for Einer to Methodist Hospital School of Nursing Foundation (Brenda's School of Nursing) in Omaha and have them send an acknowledgement to Bev and family.

We will miss Einer.

Our love and good wishes to the family.
