Rose Ann Guck

The Memorial Mass for Rosie Guck will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 19, 2017 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Loomis of Holy Spirit Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 AM at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home. A private burial will be conducted at a later date.

Rosie, 66, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Sartell, Minnesota, temporarily residing in Rochester, MN, peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017 at her residence in Rochester. Rosie was born November 2, 1950 in Little Falls, MN to Andy and Balbina (Fussy) Solorz.

Rosie graduated from St. Francis High School for Girls in Little Falls, MN. She went on to St. Cloud Vocational School in the LPN nursing program. After graduating, she began work on the Orthopedic Floor of the St. Cloud Hospital. On July 17, 1970, Rosie married Joseph Guck at the St. Stanislas Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. The couple lived in the St. Cloud area for the next 28 years during which time she and Joseph raised their family of two boys. In addition, Rosie worked several different jobs including at the St. Cloud Medical Group in the OBGYN practice, she worked alongside Dr. Michael Flanagan for 13 years at his private OBGYN practice, at the St. Cloud Hospital in Labor and Delivery, Health Partners as a case manager, The Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell as RN, and finally Medica Health Systems as a Contract Service Fee Negotiator.

She also went back to Hennepin Technical College for her RN license and Rosie and Joseph later attended together the Concordia Adult Learning Outreach Program and earned a BA in Organizational Management and Communications.

In 1998, one son graduated from College and the second son in his last year of Technical College, Rosie and Joseph decided to “escape” the Minnesota winters to South Carolina. This 19-year adventure took them to South Carolina, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Robbins, GA, Goldsboro, NC and finally retirement in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Rosie again worked many different jobs: a Surgical Scrub Nurse in an OR, an Insurance Claims Analyst, set up a Heartburn Treatment Center in the Salisbury Hospital in Maryland, Assisted a Surgeon in setting up a Bariatric Surgery practice that included establishing and leading a support group for continuing education and support for the surgery patients. In Georgia, she worked for a Hospice agency as a manager, then worked as case manager at the Robbins Air Force Base. In Goldsboro, NC, she worked at the Hospital as a case manager and retired from that job. She touched thousands of lives throughout her 40 years of work in the Medical field.

Rosie is survived by her husband, Joseph of 47 years; her son, Jeremy and wife Amber; grandchildren, Avery Grace and Austin Joseph of Cedar Rapids IA; son, Jordan Guck and wife Lindsay Walker, Duluth, MN; sister, Barbara and husband Joe Maile of Forest Lake, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Balbina Solorz.

Rosie loved the Beach, loved being with family and loved connecting with people.

Memorials are preferred to the Pink Ribbon Mentors program supported by the non-profit organization, Join the Journey, http://www.active.com/donate/general2017.

Rosie and Joseph would like to say a special thanks to the Mayo Clinic Oncology team (Dr. Matthew Goetz, Dr Moynihan, Emily Olson, Amanda Rynearson), Pat Rubenzer of Mayo Clinic and Bobbi Schopp, Rosie’s breast cancer mentor at Mayo, and the entire Mayo Clinic facility operations because we always felt the patient was priority one and have built systems and communications that supported that philosophy.

Condolences

The family of Rose Ann Guck has received the following condolences.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Rosie.  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.  Rosie was always a cheerful person and a hard worker.  I worked with her at the Medical Group and I was also a patient of Dr Flanagan. When she left she advised me as I applied for a different job.  At her advice I negotiated a better vacation package and wages than I would have gotten.  I always appreciated her help.  Our girls also went to school with the Guck boys.  Rosie is remembered by many people.  Please accept our sympathy at this sad time for your family. Tony and Mary Proell, Amie and Lindsay.

Dear Joe and family,

We just learned of Rosie's passing, and wanted to tell you how very, very sad we were to hear this news.

Our deepest sympathy to all of you.

Rosie was a bundle of energy and such a nice nurse ton work with.

Dear Joseph,

We are so sad to hear about the passing of Rosie.  Our heart hurts for you and your family.  She was such a sweet and wonderful woman.  She will be greatly missed.  We are praying for you and are here for you if we can assist in any way.

I loved Rosie. Wonderful neighbor.  Took my dog for a long walk everyday.  He loved her.

Deepest condolences on Rose's passing.  She was one in a million.  I always think of the time at the Oktoberfest party when Rose and a number of the ladies asked me to play the Chicken Dance which I did but none of them remembered how to do the dance!

Joe,

I just read of Rosie's passing.  As a Bowlus School classmate, I remember her big smile and outgoing personality.  It has been several years since she was in Bowlus, but I was able to reminisce with her then.  My daughter just walked 60 miles in a fundraiser for research to end this horrible desease.  I hold your family in my prayers.

Dear Joseph and family - I feel it a privilege to have known you and Rosie for just the short few years we had since you moved to Myrtle Beach.  Her enthusiasm for life and positive attitude just made the world a better place and I will always treasure the time we spent together!

Joseph, I know Rosie wanted to be sure you were going to be taken care and know that was all in place.  Please know that my heart aches with you and that my love, prayers and thoughts are with you and your entire family as you say goodbye to a loving and special woman - wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Please know I am here to help in anyway I can.

She will be missed

Dear Joe and family,

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Greg and I have had such a special place in our hearts for both you and Rosie over the years. Each time we walk past your old home in Sartell, or hear a lively tune played at St. Francis Xavier, we think of you!

Rosie was a beautiful person with such a happy twinkle about her. Her kind, loving ways made it so easy to be around her. She was always so proud of her family too!

Know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers. May God continue to shower you with peace and beautiful memories. Sending hugs from Sartell.

I worked with Rosie at Central Minnesota Group Health Plan/HealthPartners in St. Cloud.  She was a wonderful person to work with and everyone loved her!  I worked for Charlie Fazio, M.D., the Medical Director, and Rosie and I had some great conversations as she waited for meetings with him, etc. (she basically worked in the same area as we did so we had many conversations throughout the time we both worked there).

I am deeply saddened to hear about her passing!  My deepest sympathies to all of you - I am thinking of you all at this time!

Dear Joe and boys,

Pleas accept my sincere sympathy. Many years ago I was a neighbor to Joe and Rosie. I babysat Jeremy when he was just a new born. I recall my OB visits to Dr. Flanagan were always enjoyable as I got to catch up with Rosie and what was going on in her life. I appreciated your well written tribute to Rosie . It helped me fill in the years since I have seen her. I am so sorry she was ill, but as others have written I am sure she fought with grace. I know my mother was also extremely fond of both Joe and Rosie. Blessings to you all! Ann Boden Zierden ( neighbor on 9th Ave.SC)

Dear Joseph and family,

We are so sorry to hear of Rosie's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you ! Debbie and Steve

Dear Joseph,

Over the past few days we have walked the beautiful "Rose Walk" at Lake JUNALUSKA, NC.  We are here attending a Bible Conference surrounded by the Smokey Mountains.  As we viewed the beauty of the many variety of roses, we have thought of your dear wife Rosie and the beautiful way she lived her life even with the difficult challenges she faced.  We haven't known her long, but enough for her to impact our lives.  Truly the Spirit of the Lord was shown in her smile and kindness to us.  We always looked forward to every opportunity to meet up with her and with you.  You have been a very supportive and loving husband to Rosie.  Please be assured of our continued prayers for you and your family

so sorry for the loss of a great lady. We didn't know her long but new she was very special and true lady. Thoughts and prayers to the family

Dear Joseph and Family,

It was indeed a pleasure working with Rosie and her very positive attitude.  She is still thought of fondly by patients and co-workers alike.  It was also a blessing to help you grow your family and watch the love you shared with one another.  We had a great deal of fun in our office setting, much of which was because of Rosie's spirit and efficiency.  We were fortunate to have Rosie in our life.

We are so sorry for your loss. I worked with Rosie and Dr FLANAGAN many years ago when she ran our office. I loved working with her mainly because she was so tall. She was efficient and we all depended on her knowledge. We loved her and will miss her very much.

Joseph, my heart breaks for you and your entire family.  Rosie was a beam of light and I am honored to have known her and witnessed her shine.  My prayers for your comfort and peace.  Much love, Allison

I didn't know Rosie, but have the pleasure of working with her son Jeremy and previously with her daughter-in-law Amber.   I'm so impressed with the strength of the Guck Family and support they provide each other.  I remember hearing about all the help and guidance Rosie gave her family....so impressive.  She made a difference in so many lives and reared her son to demonstrate the same commitment, care, and compassion in his work environment.  She led a life well-lived albeit much too brief.  I hope you can all find comfort in knowing that she is in a better place and will be looking out for all of you.  My deepest condolences.

Dear Joseph,

My prayers are with you and Rosie and your family.  Rosie was an exceptional lady and fought her cancer with dignity.  Her faith in God never waivered; she was my inspiration.  She was a very loving, compassionate person, and despite her ordeal, her first concern was always for the needs of others.  I loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.

Dear Guck Family, I want to extend my deepest condolences on the loss of Rose.  Losing someone we love is very difficult.  May God grant you peace and

comfort during this time of sorrow.  Pray to him for help and comfort.  I hope your fond and beautiful memories of Rose will also give

you a measure of comfort at this difficult time.
