my family sends so much love during this most difficult time in your life.

Shelly and family,

We were so shocked and sad to hear about Mike. Your family will be in our prayers.  We have so many happy memories of your family.  You and Mike were our first friends as a married couple and family.  You and  Mike were there for us in support and friendship.  You truly shared some of the best years of our life.  Mike was such a loving husband and father and example of a Christian man. I'm sure he's watching you from heaven.  God Bless

Shelly and family, our love, thoughts and prayers are with all of you.   We have many wonderful memories of Mike, you and the kids when you lived in Columbus. So blessed to have you in our lives and call you friends.

My wishes that you forever be surrounded by the love that your Mike shared with you in life.

To the Family of Mike Long-

I worked for a short time at HyVee Barlows when Mike was the manager.  He was a respected manager and always very kind and positive. I am sorry for your loss.

To the family of Mike Long,

We are so sorry for you loss. We did not know Mike for a long time, but the time we were able to spend with him will not go forgotten. Thank you so much Mike for leaving a lasting impact on our lives. We wish you all strength, to make it through the tough times. Also, we offer a shoulder and an ear if you need one.

God bless you all and we wish you the best.

I am so sorry for the loss of a wonderful husband and father. I would see your family at st. Pius and admired the love you shared. Then I got to know Spencer and Madison at Mayo High School. I was a monitor at lunch. I was so impressed by those two nice young adults. All of the Long children will carry on the legacy of their father. I pray that you all will find comfort in the memories of Mike and know that he touched many lives and will be missed greatly.

Shelley and family. I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He was a good friend and one of the best people I ever met. Remember him always for the joy he gave to all around him. He will be missed by everyone.

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of the Long family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope!  2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  My son worked at Barlow Hy-Vee and Mike gave him another chance when he made a mistake.  Mike was understanding and fair to all.  May God bring you peace and comfort in this time of loss.

I founded the "Tee it up for the Troops" here in Rochester and one of the sponsors that I called on was Mike.  I presented my proposal to Mike and immediately he said yes and he would get the rest of the Hy-vee stores here in Rochester on board also.  Many times when we would see one another it was always a very pleasant and wonderful conversation.  As a Vietnam Veteran, I have never met a better Patriot than Mike and also a super person.  May God have mercy on his soul.  May god take care of his family.

Thank You Mike and I hope we meet again.

Dear Family, and Friends of Michael 'R' Long:

I am so so very extremely sorry for your loss of the most amazing, most kindest, most wonderful, most thoughtful, most selfless human being on this entire planet!! :( :( Mike Long was way more than my boss he was my best friend, my confidant, my mentor, and my hero. He was the one who always believed in me when no one else did. He was the only person I could talk to at Barlows when I worked there whether I was having a bad day, just wanted to talk, or wanted to tell a joke too and have a good laugh with. Mike was just not my boss at Hyvee Barlows I always called him my work dad because that is what he was to me. Every time I worked with him he always gave me a big hug or a high-five and treated me more as one of his children than one of his employees!! Everybody says that I'm such a good and thoughtful person well that is because of Mike because he was that way to everybody he came in contact with whether another co-worker or customer. He is the wonderful man who shaped me of who I am today and will continue to be especially as long as I work at and for Hyvee. I only knew him for a little over four years, but I'm so extremely grateful and thankful that I did. Because of Mike Long he is the reason that I have my job at Hyvee and will continue to have him in my heart forever and always. Thanks to Mike Long every day that I work with my other co-workers and customers I will always put them first and have a smile on my face always. Michael Long will always have a special place in my heart for as long as I live and will never be forgotten ever!! :( :( Again to his family, wife, children  and friends if there is anything you need do not be afraid to ask my number is (507) 271-3415 call me any time you want!! Again my deepest condolences to family and friends!! :( :(

                                                                                                        Sincerely yours,

                                                                                                                     Chelsie Tipka

Please accept my deepest condolences and prayers.

I didn't know Mike very long, but as an employee at Hy-Vee, anytime he came around he made a point to have a short conversation with so many.

It was amazing what he remembered about any conversation he had previously with you… He made you feel like you were working in a family business instead of a huge grocery chain.

My heart goes out to you!

My thoughts and prayers are with you as we grieve the loss of Michael.  Even though I knew him for only a year and half, I always enjoyed talking with him.  As a new member of the Hy-Vee family, Michael always made me feel like an extremely valuable employee.  He was a very gifted leader, mentor, and friend.  He will be greatly missed!  May God richly bless you and give you supernatural strength, peace, and comfort.  *Psalms 23*

My sincere sympathy to your family at this difficult time. Although I never met Mike my son was mentored by him in his career with HyVee and he always held him in such high regard! He will be sadly missed by many. Wishing you peace in your heart for his was a life while short was well lived.

Im truly sorry for your loss. I work at hyvee for 2 years and I really enjoy working with Michael

MICHAEL WAS A GOOD STORE DIRECTOR AND CHRISTIAN MAN. HE WILL BE MISSED GREATLY BY A LOT. RIP MICHAEL.

My condolences to the family.   I went to High School with Mike and he was a jokester then too.   A man taken way too young.

I am very sorry that I cannot make it back to Rochester to give my deepest sympathies and condolences in person.  After working for Mike for almost 13 years I feel he was as you all are, part of my life extended family.  I will never forget Mike and he will always hold a special place in my heart.  A place full of admiration and respect.  My love and heartfelt sympathies to you all.  Nicky

Truly sorry for your loss.  Michael was an inspiration and will be missed by all who knew him.  His smile was always genuine and kind.  Blessings to all who loved him.

Shelly and Kids,

We are so sad to hear of Mike's passing!  So very sorry for your loss.  If there is anything we can do to help now or in the future, please don't hesitate to let us know.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to your family.  Mike was always so kind and quick with a smile.  Your family is my thoughts and prayers.  Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.

I am so so sorry for your loss. What a kind nice person he was to work with. Loved working for him he was such a smart business man. He will be deeply missed.

Mike was funny, smart, and a true inspiration. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and no matter how busy his life was, he was always ready to lend a hand. There will certainly be a void in this world without him. God bless you Shelly and all of your family.

Sorry to hear about your family's loss.  I went to SBL with Mike and he always had a smile for everyone.   The Hyvee Gang will not be the same without him.  Rest in peace old friend.

Shelly, words can not express the sorrow I have for you and the kids.  I wish I had something to say that would ease your pain, unfortunately, nothing I can say will help.  I can only offer, from the bottom of my heart, my sympathy.  John and Carolann
