Katherine “Kaye” Munden

The funeral for Katherine (Kaye) Munden will be at 11:00am Monday, June 7, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Dave Berg officiating.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Kaye Munden, 57, died in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family on Thursday, June 03, 2010 after a 2 year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Kaye was born on April 13th 1953 in Belmond, IA to Clarence “Mike” Mickelson and Ruth Zeiger Mickelson. In 1976 Kaye moved to Phoenix, AZ to work at Valley Bank. She married Daryl Munden on March 20, 1982 in Scottsdale, AZ. They lived there until 1986 when they moved to Rochester, MN.

She worked at the Rochester Area Family Y for 10 years, the government center for 8 years, and part time at Kohl’s for 9 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved traveling with her family and spending time at the beach. Kaye spent many summer vacations camping at Lake Okoboji. Most of her spare time was spent cheering for her kids in baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming.

She has lived in Rochester, MN for the past 24 years. She is survived by her husband Daryl and three children, Ryan of Grand Forks, ND, Jason of St. Louis, MO, and Kristen of Mankato, MN. She is also survived by her siblings Nancy (Ron) Harms, Rose Mickelson, Mick Mickelson of Belmond, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 3:00PM – 6:00PM Sunday, at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
