Helen M. Fitzpatrick

Helen M. Fitzpatrick, age 85 of Rochester died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Stewartville Care Center, where she had resided for two weeks.

She was born Helen Marie Vanderburg April 28, 1932 at Chatfield, Minnesota to Christian W. and Margaret (Lenway) Vanderburg, Jr. She spent her lifetime in the surrounding Rochester area. On August 16, 2003 she married Paul Fitzpatrick and he survives. Helen was a hostess at the Ground Round and Brass Lantern for many years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting and dancing.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Mark (Marilyn) Yule of Gordon, WI and two daughters Jill (Daniel) Wirth and Brenda Smith, both of Rochester; ten grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Wood of Red Wing, MN, Mandy (Brian) Sanders of Red Wing, MN, Tanner (Michelle) Wirth of Kansas City, Troy (Kileigh) Wirth of Rochester, Tamara Wirth of Ames, IA, Trenton (Tara) Wirth of Rochester, MN, Taylor (Callie) Wirth of Rochester, Joshua Staver of St. Charles, MN, Timothy (Samantha) Staver of Austin, MN, Jonathan Staver of Rochester and ten great-grandchildren. Also two brothers survive,  Christian “Bill” (Dode) Vanderburg, Jr. of Rochester and Charles (Patsy) Vanderburg of Kasson.

In addition, she is survived by step-sons Mike Fitzpatrick of Mazeppa, Jeff Fitzpatrick of Blaine, Jerry (Kelly) Fitzpatrick of Rochester and Bob (Sarah) Fitzpatrick of Lombard, Ill., step-daughters Teresa Murphy and Sheila Haskins, both of Kasson, Jodi (Dick) Hodge of Rochester and Val (Brad) Felske of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by six sisters, two brothers and two step-sons.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00am Friday, May 5th in the River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Jean Boese officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service (10:00am to 11:00am) at the River Park Chapel. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Simpson.
