Eugene Henry Hansen

Eugene (Gene) Henry Hansen, (87) of Rochester passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 2, after a brief illness.

He was united in marriage to Margaret (Maggie) Wampfler on May 20, 1950. Together, they had seven daughters, Deb LePera, Nancy (James) Hammett, Kathy (Craig) Olson, Chris (Danny Joe) Bray, Jennifer (Shannon) Shiek, Mary (Ross) Fredericksen, and Lori Kuehn.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, six daughters, eighteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), his sister, Diane Trimble, and many nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Fredericksen, and two brothers, Eddie and David Hansen.

He worked many years as a District Manager for the Hamms and Schlitz brewing companies, ran his own business, retired after managing a local beer distribution company.

He was an avid fan of the Vikings and Twins.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling and exploring the U.S. He enjoyed video poker at the island.

His passion was his family; he adored his wife Maggie, his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He had a gift for speaking and telling a story and delivered eloquent toasts at each of his daughters and grandchildren’s weddings. He had a great sense of humor and his wit entertained everyone he came across.

His Christian faith was very important to him and he instilled it in each of his children and grandchildren, leading by example.

Family and friends may join in a celebration of his life on Saturday June 10, 2017 at Pax Christi Catholic Church 4135 – 18th Avenue N.W. Rochester, MN. A visitation will begin at 10 am with Mass beginning at 11 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Condolences

The family of Eugene Henry Hansen has received the following condolences.

Dear Aunt Margaret and the rest of the Hansen family,

So sorry to hear about Uncle Gene.  He was always great to me, both when I was a kid and as an adult.  It was great seeing him at Mom's birthday party last February.  I know he will be missed.

Love,

Jon and Julie Feuerbach

Sending caring thoughts at this time. Please accept my sympathy.

I did have my best days working with Gene at the Ford store back in the early 2000's.He was a pleasure to work with.A great friend!!!!!

Aunt Margaret and family,

I was so sad to hear of Uncle Gene's passing.  Will always remember the good times with him, and it comforts me to know he is in heaven with Dad.  I have great memories of when we all used to get together when we were younger and the Hansen reunions.  I pray for peace during this time for all of you.

Mary

Margaret and family - am so sorry to hear of the passing of Gene.  It's been years since the four of us had many good times together..  Both Greg and Gene  have left us to be with our Heavenly Father.  My prayers are with you Margaret and your whole family at this time.  Love and prayers, Angela Mowry

Chris, Sorry for your loss. We all lose family and loved ones but they are never really gone....they live on in our heart and memories.

Sorry  for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is now with Mary, and watching all of you!  My parents (Lenox) knew Gene.  My dad's middle was Henry and he was also a story teller and a kidder.  They will be best friends in Heaven! Bless you all during this time of sorrow.....Debbie and Charlie Rhoten
